Party Tips
Venue While choosing a venue, in addition
to keeping the number of guests in mind, you will also have to figure out
their age group. If they are mostly children, somewhere like McDonalds,
which organises great budget birthday parties, would be ideal. If your
guests are mostly adults, hamburgers may not be the best choice. Many clubs
rent halls at reasonable rates which could be used for this purpose.
If you are not a member, all you have to do is get a member to apply on your behalf. You could always reimburse him later.
First Birthday First birthdays are usually grand
affairs. Your child is too small to understand what is happening and the
party is more a moment of celebrating your joy with your friends, relatives
and well wishers. You will be inviting more adults at your child's first birthday than you will at any of his or her birthdays in the future so it is a good idea to make the first birthday special. First birthday parties with a theme are gaining in popularity. A theme does not mean involvement from the guests like a colour theme - wait till your child turns four for that. The theme would basically be applicable to the décor, invitations and back presents. For example, you could have a Mickey Mouse theme where you use Mickey Mouse invitations, Mickey Mouse painted cut-outs on the walls, a Mickey Mouse cake and Mickey Mouse accessories as back presents, which could be anything from huge stuffed toys to key chains depending upon your budget! But if you try this at your child's fourth birthday, there would be few adults around to notice your brilliant ideas and the children wouldn't care less that you went from store to store to find a Mickey Mouse water
bottle because the Donald Duck just
wouldn't do. if they notice the theme at all.
Party Ideas If you are having a gathering of around 10 children, take a couple of large, brightly coloured bed sheets and string them up to form a closed tent, leaving a flap open. When it's meal time, let the kids snuggle into the tent with their plates and watch the excitement it generates. Fancy dress parties are preferable for a slightly older age group, perhaps from 8 years, so the children can figure out what they want to go as, and the parents can help them getting the outfit organised. Each child can then enact their character, and the best costume gets a prize. If you have the space or are renting
out a venue, it would be interesting to arrange for some of these options:
