Fainting and Dizziness I have been having fainting spells and dizziness Dizziness is common in pregnancy,
but fainting is certainly not so. In the 1st trimester your blood supply
may be inadequate to fill the expanding circulatory system thereby causing
lightheadedness. In the 2nd trimester, fainting or dizziness could be caused
by the pressure of the expanding uterus on maternal blood vessels.
If it occurs on rising from a prone position, it is called postural hypotension.
When your blood pressure drops rapidly, the blood moves away from the brain.
In such cases you must avoid all fast and jerky movements and get up slowly.
How can I prevent fainting and dizziness Sometimes you can feel dizzy, or even faint, when your blood sugar levels drop to below normal. This could happen if you have skipped breakfast or have not eaten something for a long time. So carry some whole wheat biscuits or breadsticks at all times. If you are in a crowded stuffy room, try to get some air. If you suddenly feel faint, increase the circulation to the brain by lying down or putting your head between your knees. Fortunately, your fainting spells will not affect your baby because the blood flow to your brain is reduced only temporarily. To add your views on this article or read others comments Click Here
