![]() Wishes Where should I request a wish ? Requests should be directed to the Indian Chapter now established in Mumbai, India the only office in the country for the time being. Requests can be made by a parent, legal guardian, the wish child or medical professional. If the initial call comes from someone other than the people listed we ask that the Wish Family be notified to call directly on their own behalf. How are wishes granted ? Volunteers from local chapters form wish teams who coordinate the wish. During the initial telephone contact a Make-A- Wish representative explains the purpose of the organization and the medical qualifica-tions. After determining the child's medical eligibility, a wish team is assigned to the child. The team visits the child and family to determine the child's wish. The chapter board of directors approves the wish and the wish team then goes to work creating the magic! Are there any restrictions on a wish ? Usually, the wish is limited only by the child's imagination. However, Make-A-Wish follows policies and guidelines in granting a wish. We also work with the child's physician to determine if the wish can be ful-filled. Does the family have to pay for the wish ? No! All wish expenses are fully covered, including any travel and spending money. Our objective is to provide the child and family with memories of joy that are not clouded with worries of wish expenses. What sort of wishes are normally requested ? The majority of wish requests fall into four major categories: "I want to go...; I want to be...; I want to meet....; or I want a ...." Is the family included in the wish ? We make every effort to include the immediate family wherever possible.
