CANNELONI MILANAISE STYLE Recipe | | Main Course Recipe by Tarla Dalal |
| | INGREDIENTS | For the dough:
1 teacup plain flour (maida)
2 teaspoons oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
For the sauce:
1 teacup fresh cream
1 teacup milk
2 large tomatoes
4 tablespoons tomato ketchup
1 tablespoon plain flour (maida)
1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
2 teaspoons sugar (approx)
Salt to taste
For the stuffing:
2 teacups mixed boiled vegetables (french beans, carrtos, green peas)
2 boiled potatoes
1 chopped onion
1 teaspoon chilli powder
2 tablespoons oil
Salt to taste
For the topping
50 grams grated cooking cheese
Potato wafers to decorate
| | METHOD | For the dough:
Mix the flour, oil and salt. Add water and prepare a soft dough.
Keep the dough for 1 hour.
For the stuffing:
Mash the potatoes coarsely.
Heat the oil thoroughly in a vessel, add the onions and fry for a little time.
Add the boiled vegetables, mashed potatoes, chilli powder and salt and cook for 1 minute.
For the sauce:
Cut the tomatoes into big pieces, add 1/4 teacup of water and cook. When cooked, take out a thick soup by putting through a sieve.
Mix the cream, milk, tomato soup, tomato ketchup, flor and 1 teacup of water.
Add the chilli powder, sugar and salt. Boil until the gravy thickens.
How to proceed:
Roll out the dough into small thin rounds.
Boil plenty of water in a vessel and add 1 tablespoon of oil to the boiling water.
Drop one round at a time into the boiling water, cook for 1/2 minute and remove. Repeat for all rounds.
Fill each round with 1 tablespoon of the stuffing and roll up.
Arrange on a greased baking dish, pour hot sauce and sprinkle the cheese on top.
Bake in a hot oven at (400°F) for 15 minutes.
Surround with potato wafers and serve hot.
