APPLE CRISP Recipe
International Desserts Recipe by Kevin Tighe

 1.5 hours  4

  INGREDIENTS
2 lbs Tart Green Apples (1 kilogram).
1/4 c Water (2 oz).
1/2 c Sugar (4 oz).
1/2 c Brown Sugar (4 oz).
1/2 tsp Nutmeg powder.
1/2 tsp Cinnamon.
1/4 tsp Salt.
3/4 c Flour.
1/2 c Butter.

  METHOD
1. Peel the apples and slice them thinly. Put them in a rather     shallow casserole dish and sprinkle them with the water. Put     them aside while you prepare the crust.
2. Sift together the dry ingredients and cut in the butter until it is     well combined. Sprinkle the mixture thickly and evenly over the     apples. Don't mix the two together.
3. Cover the casserole and bake at 350F for 1/2 hour, then uncover     and bake another 1/2 hour. The crust will be crisp on top and will     have partly seeped known through the apples, flavoring them and     binding them slightly together.
4. Serve hot or cold, alone or with Crème Anglaise.
(Note: It is nice to use different types of apples mixed together     different tastes and textures in one bite. Also, you may want to     squeeze a little lemon juice over the apples before baking if they     are not tart enough.)
