DATE AND SESAME WONTONS Recipe | | International Desserts Recipe by Tarla Dalal |
| | INGREDIENTS | For the stuffing:
1/4 teacup sesame seeds
1/2 teacup brown sugar
1/2 teacup chopped dates
1 tablespoon soft butter
For the wontons
20 wonton wrappers
1/2 teacup milk
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Oil for deep frying
To serve:
Vanilla ice-cream
| | METHOD | For the stuffing:
Toast the sesame seeds on a medium flame until they are golden. Cool.
Crush them coarsely.
Mix with the brown sugar, dates and butter.
How to proceed:
Place about 1 teaspoon of the stuffing in the centre of each wonton wrapper.
Pull the edges of the dough around the filling and with the help of a little milk, twist to seal like a money bag.
Deep fry in oil until golden. Cool.
Sprinkle the powdered sugar on top.
Serve hot with vanilla ice-cream.
