Importance of Water Intake during Pregnancy

Are you wondering why drinking water is so important when you are pregnant? Have a quick look at the importance of drinking water during pregnancy.

Water Facilities Easy Absorption of Nutrients

Water eases the absorption of essential nutrients into the cells and tissues. It transports vitamins, trace elements, minerals, and hormones to the blood cells, which then reach the placenta. It allows the flow of hormones throughout the body thus making sure there is no imbalance of hormones your body when you are pregnant.

Water Helps to Lubricate

Water lubricates the thick cushion-like endometrium that nourishes the embryo. It also stimulates circulation around the embryo enhancing its quality. When the embryo grows and transform into a whole body, it would need a deep swimming pool to nestle in. Water helps in maintaining this amniotic fluid balance making sure your baby is happy and healthy.

Water Helps to Remove the Toxins

Due to physical changes, hormonal changes, and intake of iron supplements, the bowel movements in a pregnant woman get sluggish. Water allows the solid wastes to move speedily through yours and your baby’s digestive path, and prevents you from constipation and indigestion during pregnancy. Water also dissolves the waste products and helps flush them from the kidneys, thus detoxifies the body and keeps the baby clean and healthy.

Water Helps to Beat the Heat

Your body becomes hotter when you are pregnant, and water acts as a cooling system running smoothly even when your temperature is high outside dispersing excess heat in the form of sweat. It is also dangerous for the baby if your inner temperature is high, so cool yourself down with water and keep heat stroke and exhaustion at bay.

Water Prevents Skin Problems during Pregnancy

Drink more water to keep your skin hydrated, smooth and glowing. Pregnancy hormones can riddle your face with pimples. Increase your water intake to relieve the discomfort of pimples, dry, itchy or scratchy skin and get a clear complexion.

Water Helps to Avoid Swelling

Water-weight is a myth; reality is that drinking plenty of water controls excessive water retention. Water keeps the liquid flowing in your body instead of accumulating in one place and thus prevents you from edema and being a puffy mom. Water flushes out the sodium, minimizing the swelling.
