No. Color doesn't matter. Commercialism is promoting it because this gives them something else to sell. Like diet products...they don't tell you to eat less, just eat all you can stuff into yourself then take a diet pill. They don't tell you the side effects. Of course a costmetologist will say 'yes'. It's her business. SOme of the most beautiful people in the world are not necessarily light skinned. Some of our Ms. Universe are not light skin. It's an old colonial-european thing that they are better than those the conquer. It's all played out. We are brainwashed no longer. Whiter doens't mean better.

I have been a Cosmetologist since 1982 and owned a Beauty Salon in the US. I have to say that skin color does matter to millions: You have only to check the beauty boards and see for yourself. Beauty whitening product manufacture and sales to both men and women are at an all time high. It is only human to want to change certain aspects of how we look: Black to light, white to sun-tan, curly hair to straight, short to tall, fat to thin, dark hair to blonde, Asian eyes to Caucasian eyes. That is how the world works and commercialism has responded with remarkable solutions for this hunger for change. I am all for it if enhancing or changing ones image makes one feel better about themselves. resulting in a more self assured individual and thereby enabling them to pursue and achieve better heights in life.

Color doesn't matter at all. Personality and sanity doesn't reflect with the color. Judging beauty by looking at the color is getting old- even in India. Also, it's not fair to ignore someone's beautiful features just because of the color.
