My son is above 5 years and knows the meaning of diwali. Infact, when he was 3 years old he knew Ramayan by heart and when we took him to show Ramayan in Bhartiya Kala Kendra people were amazed to hear all the dialogues which he was repeating after the characters. He infact received the best story telling award (he narrated Ramayan) in his school when he was in Nursery. My husband was taught all the religious books by his grandmother and the same is being done to my son as his bedtime stories are either religious or meaningful stories. In todays world children are very inquisitive and want to know all the reasons. Diwali, what is diwali, why do we celebrate it are the basic immediate questions comes to children's mind and to suffice them we have to narrate the story and the meaning, which is essential for a curious child mind and teaches good values.

I have taught my children the meaning of Diwali B'cause I think it is very important to know these things in today's world.now-a-days these are all general knowlegde questions & these topics are very important to know these days.According to me today's world is a competitive one & a child ought to be knowing these things.
