Would you find out your Baby's Sex while still pregnant?

Name: Beth
Country: usa
Comment:
Being a first time mother at age 38, I realized that this would be my only child. I was eager to find out the sex of my child so I could do some "streamlined" planning and decorating. I wanted everything to be just perfect since it was my "once in a lifetime"!

In today's world where we are striving for equal opportunities for the sexes, it dosen't matter what sex child comes into this world. What is important is how we plan to bring up this child - hopefully with plenty of nuturing, understanding and love.

there is nothing wrong in finding out the sex of the baby. The surprise is the same whether it is onthe 5th month or after the baby is born.

A Baby boy or a baby girl ...?How does it matter ?Isn't a baby, a baby and just a baby - u'r own flesh and blood ! All that would matter to us is to know that our baby is going to be healthy and sound. The very joy of mothering and fathering a baby is fulfilling enough irrespective of the knowledge of the baby's sex.

Actually, my sonologist herself told me that we were having a boy. I wasn't really interested. But as my husband and his family desperately wnated a girl and I wnated only 1 child, he got some time to reconcile to the fact that we would be having a boy and not a girl. By the time my son was born, he was heartily welcomed by my husband. As my in-laws were not told earlier, it took some months for them to adjust to the idea of not having a grand daughter. Anyway I feel this knowledge can be fun if used by rational persons, who will not misuse it. Overall, for Indians we should not allow.

I would like to know the sex of my child just out of curiosity as this is my first child. I would like to have a baby girl as girls are more close to mother than the boys.

He plays cricket and always jumping like a monkey in the playground . We consider the birth of my son as gift. We would have cared if the baby was Girl too. After all Female Baby are divine.

For me,a baby, be it a boy or a girl, is God's wonderful creation. When I was carrying my first baby, it was immaterial what the sex was. All I prayed for was a healthy and normal child. It is very unfortunate that in a progressive society, we still give importance to the birth of a boy, for reasons such as 'carrying forward the family name' and, most importantly, the onus that a girl child carries of giving a dowry when she marries. Although we pride ourselves as being educated, this dowry system still goes on in the affluent cadre of society, though for them it is just a way of life and not 'selling the bride'. This terminology only sounds appropriate amongst the poor and uneducated class of our Asian society. So you can't really blame them if they ask for a scan to know what the sex of the unborn child is. But for us, who are able to understand God's creation in a different context, I seriously think that we should let Him unfold his creation as a surprise! Afterall, will it make any difference. He or she will still be your bundle of joy. I have two beautiful children, a boy & a girl and I live in Oman.

it is really very cheap to find the sex of the child before delivery. Whatever it is has to be accepted without any discrimination. A child is a gift of god whatever it is.

I did not want to know the sex of my baby. It didn't matter whether it was a boy or a girl as long as it was a healthy child. Both my husband and myself were against it as we wanted the birth of our child to be a surprise. Once you come to know the sex of your child there is no excitement.

Look at the some silly reasons given by others for having got the baby's sex detected in advance! Somebody had to do shopping for the baby in advance, as if the first shopping for a new born boy baby or a girl baby is different. They can not even wait till the nature reveals its sweetest surprise of all. This is like reading the last page of a suspense novel first. The technique is meant to ensure that the baby is growing properly and not for such silly things. We waited for full nine months in case of both of our childs, a boy and a girl. And yes, we were very much happy to call our baby a 'baby' for those nine months. In fact, my wife turned down the doctor's offer to reveal the sex of the baby while the scanning was going on during the intermediate tests. We are currently in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.

Yes, I asked for the baby's sex because I wanted to refer my unborn child by a cute name and not just say 'my baby'. Also I don't believe in surprises. Apart from that emotional factors, a practical factor was that we had to do the shopping for our little one accordingly...

I used to talk to my unborn child and imagine things. Idid not like referring to the baby as it. I wanted to know who it was a son or a daughter, both would be equally special.

In my time, I was told that I had a girl but it turned out the be a boy! So now I am a proud mother of 2 boys and I would caution pregnant mothers to not go overboard buying things that are too specific to boys or too specific to girls.
