But Not Too much of Change

Be consistent in your care

Some babies are creatures of habit. In the case of such babies, sticking to a regular schedule of feeding, bathing, changing, outings and bedtime is a good idea. Try to be consistent even when it comes to ways in which to soothe and comfort the baby. Once you have found what works, stick to it.

Limit the baby’s excitement

A new baby is a thing of joy and excitement. You want to show your baby off and your family and friends want to hold her and play with her. The world is a bewildering experience for new babies – full of new sights, sounds, smells, faces and experiences. All this may be a trifle overwhelming for your baby. If your baby has a tendency to cry, try to limit excitement, visitors and stimulation, particularly in the late afternoon and evening.
