Right from the elders in the family to your neighbours, everyone will seem to give you advice which sometimes becomes overwhelming. Even if the woman has considerable experience, it is not necessary that she will give you the right advice.

There are some common pregnancy mistakes that most women make, sometimes knowingly and most often unknowingly. Regardless of whether you have someone elderly person in your house or not, it is good if you consult your doctor on every step.

General Pregnancy Mistakes

Here are some common pregnancy mistakes which many pregnant women make.

Eat for Two

When you get pregnant, the first thing that you will commonly hear from different persons is that now you need to eat for two. Well, this is not true because the child that is developing in your womb is not a person now. It will grow gradually and initially you simply need to take care of the nutrition and your health. It is for sure that you will have to take few more calories than normal diet but make sure these are compensated with fresh fruits and proper nutritional food items.

Eat Fried and Spicy Food Items

Although you might have temptation for some specific food items it is not necessary that you have to have always something spicy or zesty. Pay attention to nutrition and increase intake of iron, calcium and some necessary minerals. Try to get right suggestion from the doctor and if possible make a diet plan. Your diet plan will need changes as you proceed with the weeks of your pregnancy.

Worrying too Much about Increasing Weight

It is obvious that as the child grows in you, your weight will increase. Just keep a check that you do not eat fast food or fried food in excess. Have a break from your normal meal once in a while but maintain the nutritional value of your daily meals.

Inadequate Sleep

When you were not pregnant, sleep for 5 – 6 hours was sufficient. But during pregnancy there happens to be lot of hormonal changes within you and proper rest will help you during labour. Researches show that women who sleep well and stay out of stress take less time to deliver the child. They also have less labour pain as compared to those who stayed over stressed and had less or disturbed sleep.

Do not Exercise

Normally people will advise you to take as much rest as you can and avoid exercise or any kind of physical movement. You should ask your doctor or join some class that will help you have some yoga exercises that are beneficial and advantageous during child birth.

When you are pregnant, keep in mind that this is a normal phenomenon of life. Enjoy your pregnancy and follow your doctor’s advices. Unless you have any kind of complication, do not take extra precaution or rest. Follow a normal routine in your life, have a check on the growth of your fetus. Go for regular check ups and do not believe in pregnancy myths.

Remember, you are the first person to notice any changes in your fetus and you should keep your doctor well informed about everything. Educate yourself regarding pregnancy period and the expected changes with the help of various books and articles available on internet as well as in your local store.

It is a common Indian tradition to eat ghee laden foods during pregnancy. this according to elders helps in smooth delivery as the baby will smoothly come out of the birth canal. How much of this is true?

My aunt says that I must eat for two as I am pregnant. The baby also needs good amount of nutrition as it is also growing but here you have mentioned eating for two is not right. Eating for two will make up for the nutrition deficit that will happen due to the growing baby. am i not right?
