I'd say that unless a parent does not take the effort to explain to their child the dangers of the colour, then the child is bound to play Holi with dangerous colours. Hence according to me I feel, one must allow the child to experience the joys of colour in a safe environment, besides imbibing the Indidan festivity atmosphere.

Holy is very harmful festival as slum dwellers in India throw dirty gutter water and dangerous colours on anybody who comes to their sight.Good people may become victim of these dirty things. Its also very dangerous to travel by train in holi as many people have lost their sight as balloon of water fallen on their eyes.

I will never encourage my children to play Holi. It is one of the most dangerous festivals of India. Not only is it risky to go on the road during this time, but it is risky even to play with colours mixed with oils and mirchi powder etc.

I think holi is a fun festival and should be enjoyed by everyone. The only care that should be taken is that the colors used are not harmful.

my 3 year old is hyper enthusiatic about everything. the knowledge that the colours used during holi can be harmful is very scary. i let him play in the verandah with my husband only with water. maybe i am a little over-protective, but better safe than sorry

holi can be very violent at times. as a mother of a teen daughter i am very apprehensive of her playing holi since i know that people can take advantage of the oppurtunity and try my best to dissuade her from going to not so well known people. however, i do make it a point to go with her to my friends' place where we invite well known people and other children of my daughter's age, so that they can play holi under surveillance
