Back pain is getting common these days. People suffering from back pain most often stop any kind of exercise as it may hurt or they fear that it will have adverse effect. The yoga exercise and the treatment vary depending on the severity of pain and problem. The pain can be mild to sever in either upper back portion or lower back portion. Some find rigidity and limitations while moving due to stiffness and tension in their backs.

  • The first thing that you should do is analyze the cause of your back pain. Also check out with the help of an orthopedic whether there is any kind of serious damage to your spine or not.
  • If you find sharp pain in your back that more or less immobilizes you or if there is tingling sensation or numbness in your legs or feet, you should immediately see a doctor.
  • Remember, right yoga will help you heal the damage and if anything is done in wrong way, it can result in further severe problem also.
  • You can improve your sitting and standing posture. This will bring in some relief if the cause is wrong posture in your case.
  • Before starting any kind of yoga exercise you should consult your doctor if you are suffering from back pain. This is because seeing the problem, your doctor may advice you to restrict any kind of movement, advice you some safety modifications or allow you to carry on some supporting yoga exercise too.
  • Once you have consulted your doctor, you should tell everything to your yoga teacher. He will help you create a perfect balance and practice safe yoga exercise.
  • It is always better to practice yoga under an experienced teacher. Do not try to do everything yourself, especially if you are suffering from back pain.
  • Right yoga asanas will help you have perfect balance between the flexibility and strength of the muscles of your body. Yoga helps you release the tension in your back and this helps eliminate back pain eventually.
  • Find out the right yoga asanas from your yoga teacher and practice them as directed by your yoga expert. Some of the yoga asanas are specialized and only when you have confidence and flexibility, you can try them out. Your yoga teacher must have the knowledge whether you have practiced yoga before or you are a beginner.
  • Yoga will help you improve your mind, body and soul. When you are practicing asanas, breathe deeply and perform the asanas in a relaxed way. Do not stress any of your body part.
