Kids learn most of the things by watching parents. So parents must make a note of this and model right behaviour in front of kids. Here are 5 values which kids learn by watching their parent’s behaviour.Parents, being the primary care giver of kids, should always be an example for their children and try to teach them positive and righteous
values which could help them in future. By teaching them some positive values, you can evolve your kids into a respectable and a successful adult.
Here are 5 positive values kids tend to learn from their parents.
1. Honesty
The best and also the hardest way to promote truthfulness in your kids, is to be a truthful parent yourself. You child follows you as an example and hence, it is important to not be found using any kind of deceptive techniques such as
lying, withholding information from family and making excuses. If your kid does lie to you, never over react. Instead of scolding your kid, you can help him find a way to tell the truth in an appropriate manner.
If you know your kid is lying, promise them you would not scold them and hear their side of the story before judging them and probably grounding them, which could harm their psyche about telling a truth. Show your kids how much you appreciate them
being honest and reward their honesty. Tell them that sometimes being honest means being uncomfortable, but that one should never lie just to get out a tight spot. As a parent, you can show them that how better one can feel only if you tell the truth.
2. Justice
Parents should always insist that their children make amends, if they do something wrong. Instead of scolding them after you find out about their wrong doing, help your kids identify and express their feelings and try to understand yourself why they behaved the way they did. As a parent, you should encourage your child to take action themselves when they did something wrong, by instilling in them a feeling of justice. Show them that just
saying sorry does not solve any problem and that they should have a sense of justice by doing thoughtful actions as a gesture of apology.
3. Determination
You, as a parent, can encourage your child to take on a challenge and be persistent to get successful results. Determination is one of the values that need to be learnt at a very young age. For parents, the easiest way to teach their little one determination is by avoiding over the top praises and actually giving them honest feedback which could help them improve their performance. By showing your kids that success does not come easy, you can help them be more determined and encourage them to be go getters in life.
4. Thoughtfulness
A
good parent always teaches their children to be considerate about other’s feelings. To instill in them consideration and thoughtfulness, you can help them solve simple exercises based on their problem solving skills. Show them how some simple and easy actions can put a smile on someone’s face and make their day. Praise them when they are nice to someone or help a friend. This feedback will promote their habit of adopting kindness and compassion for others.
5. Empathy
Parents need to stop assuming that their children will learn to live and be generous without their help. As the primary care giver, you are their first example and role model. Be sure that you reciprocate their loving feelings and help them spread love. You can also show them your affection and different ways to show your love by hugging, cooking for them or making handmade gifts. Practice love and compassion on every day basis by telling your kid how much you love them and they will have learnt the greatest value of all.
By instilling in them these important values and virtues, you can teach your kids positivity and independence as well. With your help they can develop into happy and cheerful adults and always follow your lead in life.
