CRISPY BANANA WAFERS Recipe | Snacks Recipe by reluctant_chef |
| INGREDIENTS | Raw and tender Bananas Haldi powder Salt Oil (preferably coconut) | METHOD | Peel raw tender banana by first making a few vertical slits and then peeling the skin. This will ensure a round shape to your chips. Then make medium thick slices of the banana. If it is getting too sticky, you can grease your palms.
Soak the banana slices for 2-3 min in 4 cups of water (for 3 bananas) with 1 tsp haldi and 1/2 tsp salt. Give it a nice stir for the chips to have a nice yellow colour.
Heat oil in a pan for frying. Coconut oil will give it the authentic flavour, but any cooking oil is fine. Fry the banana slices on slow flame for 10 min. Ensure that they don't stick to each other and don't turn brown.
Take them out in a bowl and allow to cool. Your crispy banana waters are ready to eat!
(Note: If your chips are slightly soft in the middle, like mine were the first time, it is because the bananas are perhaps riper than you thought. When I tried it the next time, I made the slices thinner and ensure they were on the gas for 10 min on a very slow flame. And it worked! The chips came out nice and crisp.
Anyway, getting the exact rawness of banana can be quite a hit and miss. If the chips come out semi-soft, no worries, enjoy them with salt and red chilli powder)
