| INGREDIENTS | Fairly easy and delicious Indo-Chinese dish, perfect for home parties
Ingredients:
Cabbage
Carrots
Capsicum
Spring onions
Maida (all purpose flour)
Corn flour
Oil
Garlic
Ginger
Soya sauce
Vinegar
Black pepper
Salt | METHOD | Preparation of 24 Vegetable balls (serves 6-8):
In a wide pan, mix finely chopped 1 cabbage, 3 carrots, 1 capsicum and 2 spring onions, 3 tsp crushed ginger, 3 tsp crushed garlic, 9 tbsp corn flour, 6tbsp maida and 4 tsp salt, 4 tsp black pepper, 3 tsp soya sauce. 3 tbsp water or as required to make the consistency. Mix well and check for spices. Make round balls and deep fry them in a pan. If the balls are separating, add more maida to the mixture to help them bind better.
Preparation of sauce:
Heat oil in a large pan and saute 3 tbsp crushed ginger, 6 tbsp crushed garlic, crushed 3 tsp green chillies. Then add 1 finely chopped spring onions (with it leaves), 6 tbsp tomato ketchup, 3 tsp chilli sauce, 3 tsp soya sauce, 3 tsp vinegar, 4-5 tbsp salt and 4-5 tbsp pepper. Mix them well. Then a katori, dissolve 9 tbsp corn flour with water and add to the pan. Now add 3 cups water ans let it cook for some time, till the water evaporates and the sauce is the right consistency. Check taste and add salt, vinegar or chilli sauce as required.
Finally, add the fried manchurian vegetable balls to the sauce. Your Veg. Manchurian is ready!
Best enjoyed with Chinese fried rice.
(Tip: Preparation is very easy, but cooking and frying does take time, so do allocate about 45 min. You can make Vegetable Fried Rice in parallel)
