Hi, I am a light skinned black 25yr old female that suffers from marks on my legs because of mosquito bites and i feel as all of u do not being able to wear shorts and skirts, my friends ging out all the time revealing their legs and i am always cover up. Not being able to show ur self or shape off at the beach, I had gotten to a point where i became very depressed and had considered sucide, buy my husband who was my highschool sweetheart whom i have have one beautiful child with have been pulling me through it. I am light skinned with green eyes, pretty girl, but ugly legs , to me anyway, people say there not that bad , but they don't know how it feels until you experience the embtassment. Well, anyway, i have read everyone comments and i have tried mostly all of the creams suggested to remove the spots and they don't work. What i have been doing is getting a TCA chemical peel ,they mix it with Rentiol everytwo weeks, it been working, you can get it every two weeks, it kinda costly, but it is the rhe only and fastest solution i have found. I tried to get laser surgery put they said my legs will hypopigment. So starting wearing capri pants, but i still feel embrassed,because i haven;t worn shorts in 6yrs and the spot are still there just fainter,I bought some of that legs tan spray from walmart or you can get it from cvs or walgreen, its cheaper at walmart if there is one near you, I do feel a whole lot better about myself,I cant wait until they are completely removed. I am excited! I hope rhis helps someone else, because i truely feel yall, i know what it is like. I TRIED EVERYTHING!!!! call around to different cosmetic places that does spot removal for the face treatment and alot of those places does chemical peels to the leg to!

I am writing from Trinidad and Tobago, and my country is not even listed on the country list. Why and how is that in this day and age. I wrote on here a year ago, my scars have now nearly completely gone, i used to have them all over my face but now there are only a few. I dont wear as much foundation now! The main difference was using clinique advanced stop signs serum morning and night under your moisturiser, you have to wash your face every day. I don't have the answer for scars, but I found a miracle for acne. Its 3 simple steps. 1)Wash with pure baking soda and water. 2)Then make a simple paste with Raw, Unfiltered Honey mixed with Organic Cinnamon 3) (this is optional) Tone skin with Pure tea tree oil. **The honey must be unheated to work the best! I am living in London from Jamaica, when I came to this country I had no marks on my skin let alone my face. I was some one with a lot of confident but of late that's all gone because of black marks which appear on my forehead and two side of my cheek. I have been to see a dermatology, a test was run for three days, which I did not complete. Because on the second day the Dr remove the test patches and claim the marks are cause from allergic to costume jewellerys. I was very upset and told hin he does not have a clue of the cause. I haven't worn any form of lewels since 1997 as don't believe as a christian I should.I have tried various creams, also I have my five portion of fruits eat a lot of vegs, some times raw but no changes. Ok I have tried lots of products for stretch marks like Bio Oil, Strivectin Creams, Cocoa Butter and etc. But none of them really help with white stretch marks, they are all very good when the marks are still red. The best remedy i have come across is Almond Oil as it is full of Vitamin E, which really is the best for any marks. It is the key ingredient in all these products, so why not just use the main ingredient. As with anything it takes time, so be patient and learn to love yourself as you are, or else you will drive yourself mad. Be grateful for what you have. :) As for pimples, those with sever acne, I recommend taking a tablet called Roaccutane, it works wonders and is amazing with garanteed results as I have seen so many people around me and all have acheived awesome results. For those with Mild Acne, use lemon and yougurt on your face as often as possible as a mask and wash it off after 20 minutes. Apply black pepper powder directly to the pimples and they will get better. But it does take time. Use Rose Water as it is very good skin toner. This will also help with the marks. You can also try using Virgin Vitamin A on marks as it does wonders. As with everything a good diet is very crucial. You need to make sure you are eating healthy with lots of water. If you aren't then it is important you buy some multi-vitamins. Regular exercise also does great for the skin as it removes toxins from the body. I hope this helped a lot of you. Be patient and learn to love yourself. Everyone is different, never compare yourself with anyone else. As they say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, some may find you pretty while others may find someone else pretty. Just think Happy thoughts and I am sure with time all of you will feel beautiful. :)

answer to all you girls with dark spots and dark marks on your body. Prevention: When you notice you have a spot if you are a person of colour it would certainly mark. Its a powerful and a little expensive but affordable. You will need to buy a toner and esential oil with it. The beautician should explain why, I can but my fingers are getting tired. Ok the two extra products are to protect your skin from the effect and after effect of dermalac, its that goo, do not by any means use it on your face or areas with thinner skin like armpit. for years i have had the same problems as most of you- since i was nine years old ive had acne and it wasn't until i graduated high school that i found the solution to my problem. im happy to say that it is working and ive only been using these products for about a month. i use clean and clear oil-free daily pore cleanser w/microbeads every other night in addition to neutrogena's daily pore cleanser/mask. i use neutrogena daily pore cleanser/mask twice a day, in the morning as a cleanser and at night as a mask - this product is the best ive tried because it has a tingling effect but it has 3.5% benzoyl peroxide in it so before you use it i'd reccommend a really good moisturizer , which brings me to my next solution icky black marks left behind by acne. a moisturizer id reccommend is clean and clear dual action moisturizer it works very well but i needed something to fade my discoloration and black marks. so for the past four days i have been using palmers skin success fade cream for oily skin. im also happy to say that this stuff is working already it seems to be fading my marks . i also use neutrogena on the spot treatment on my occasional pimmples and drink at least 8 glasses of water daily.

I am a uk Afro Carribeean with previously very oily skin who has had acne since 16 (I am now 40) At times my skin has been terrible and at some times almost perfect. One of the major improvements came over the last 3/4 years with the usage of acidophilus tablets (Holland and Barrett - apparently they help increase efficient food digestion. I started going to the toilet every 1-2 days instead of 3-4!) I can only assume the toxins stored in my body because of my inefficient digestion used to come through my facial skin) It reduced my acne problems by around 90% so all I had to do was concentrate on looking after my blemished skin. About 9 months ago I decided to buy chewable acidophilus instead of normal (there was only a extra big container of normal acidophilus available) This was the biggest mistake of my skin life in the last ten years. Over a three month period my skin got progressively worse and by month 3 I was getting one - two boils daily - with resultant scars that take MUCH longer to heal than normal spots. This was extremely depressing considering my skin had been virtually perfect for the last year. I then used a combination of Palmers skin success cream and Fade cream in my desperation to get rid of these blemishes. Basically I overloaded my skin with these creams and have no doubt one or both of them contained Hrdroquinone and mercury. I used these for around two months and noticed areas of my skin where product was applied (about 15% of surface) had turned blue/grey in colour. I have never been so depressed in years. I have stopped use of these products now and my skin 6 weeks later is about 30% better (still a way off my previous condition) I will now be using a completely NATURAL product called Elicina cream (type into Yahoo) that does EVERYTHING I am looking to achieve from now on without have hydroq or mercury. I'll tell you how I get get on but the bottom line is Hydroq and/or mercury can not only inhibit melanin production but actually damage your pigment cells even - and ther product carries on working for a while after you stop using it. I've learnt the hard way folks but it could have been so much worse. ALWAYS STAY NATURAL with whatever skin remedies you decide to use! Peace.

I had bad acne and used everything availble including Proactiv. Nothing worked but finally I used Neutrogena Blackhead scrub and it worked. Now I have marks on my face. I used the Neutrogena acne Scar peel and it lightened it a little with one use. I also use Biotique products-papaya scrub, fruitpack. Also I went for a facial anf the lady made me buy a ph balancer by Aesthetics which balances the oil production I guess. Try to make yor own skin lightener CHEAP. Skinactives (dotcom) I bought the Canvas Base Cream and the Arubitn active to put in the cream making it a 5% cream. That's a pretty high percentage. hey people! well i have the same prob as you guys. i no longer have pimples but they left marks. it's like black spot. try applyin aloe vera it lightens the black marks. Try "JORUBI". It's pure and does not contain alcohol. Those aloe vera which contains alcohol will only dry your skin up! rule of the thumb, never go for an AHA face peel. it would not work and furthermore it's costly and after having it done, you have to ensure, you can't be in the sun, can't do this and that. I used to break out pretty often. I have sensitive skin and most creams I use, etc would give me pimples. So then I switched to just washing my face with a bar of soap- used to use Dove, but now use any natural soap I can find, and stick with that for a while, because I dont like to rely on a lot of chemicals. I exfoliate my face with an exfoliating body scrub about once or twice a week in the shower. After washing my face I moisturize with a tiny bit of baby oil (because my skin is normal/dry to begin with, and it moisturizes it well). I then dab the excess with a tissue so i'm not left shiny or oily, and then I apply my makeup or stop there. After starting this regimen, it gradually and greatly reduced the amount I break out from before. I'm sure this wont work for everyone, but it does work for me, so I thought I would share in case anyone wanted to try this method out. My skin is pretty much clear now except for occasional random pimples I get, mostly on my chin or cheeks. Good luck!

Hello all. I completely understand all of your concerns and i too have the same types of problems. I used to have bad acne at the start of puberty, i wasn't at all worried i have to admit because at that time i was very into my work etc etc. Basically i didn't have the time to care. These problems went for a good few years during the skin's natural healing process. However, recently, i have started to experience them again. I tried various creams seen on tele, magazines etc, and it worked..for a while. Unfortunetly. I am having so many problems. Not major ones but after having spots, a small black mark usually appears. This is the pigment scarring after the spot has gone and it will take several weeks or maybe few months to heal. Please give it time, i am a very impatient person myself. But i know, that worrying about it will only trigger more and more. I have read a lot of the advice given by various people here and they are very good. I don't eat vegetables or fruit, always eating something fatty like burgers etc and constantly touch my face, all things which aggravate the problem even more. I'm working on the changes. I feel a little depressed and i feel like its very unfair but give it time as i have said. Im trying to lol. I went to the doctors a few times, and the advice he pssed on to me was to have a bit of sunshine on my face everyday and lots of air, so get out more if you don't already do this. He suggested that it was not to do with diet, but i dont agree with this, it might not cause acne (hormones play a huge part)but certainty does not help it at all. Also, try to keep hair away from your face and sleep with your face above the covers (air!) Try t wash your face with either hot water or very cold water as some bacteria can be killed in this way. I dont moisturise my face for fear that i will make the spots worse. I think im going to change my mind about that though because it will keep your skin supple. Also, i have tried things but then left them because my skin seemed to get worse but i have learned that u should give it at least a week because all spots need to get worse before they get better, it measn its working well. Do not try putting toothpaste on becuase it will make it worse. I am 19 yers of age by the way, hopefully i will grow out of them. Hopefully, i've given some advice and i wish all of you the best.

Sometimes it is difficult to find what is right for you. Some products may be too strong, others not strong enough. As for dark patches that appear not to be the result of picking or pimples, see your doctor about acanthosis nigricans. If you have this, it could be a symptom of a greater problem with your skin, insulin resistance or metabolic syndrome for example. As for lightening products, I strongly suggest you stay away from carcinogenic compounds found in the products on the shelf. Looking brighter today is not worth going through chemotherapy in ten years. Take care of yourself and try to find natural alternatives. Any product that interferes with your skin's normal renewal process is not a good idea. Your skin is supposed to renew itself. Unfortunately we live in a superficial world, and it is a White man's world. Whether we admit it or not, it is by their standards that we try measure up to; whether it is straightening our hair or brightening our skin. LET US embrace our natural skin tones regardless of the shade. Those who make fun are simply insecure themselves. Your skin is not your problem, it is your attitude about yourself. Learn to love yourself. I knew a lady who always thought she was ugly. In my opinion she was an average person, skin was fine, and I didn't see anything wrong with her. Then she got a disease that totally changed her face and now she is forced to cover it with makeup. She said she didn't realize how beautiful she was until she got sick. Here's a few great advices: 1. Don't ever skip a day without washing your face 2. DRINK LOTS OF WATER..avoid oily foods. 3. exfoliate to get rid of dead skin cells...acetones and toners are great. 4. Always apply a facial moisturizer (PONDS is great) after washing your face or before puting on make up. 5. To get rid of SCARS...try Esoterica. And avoid the sun as much because it darkens scars. 6. do NOT pop pimples, if you do then apply anti-biotic ointment or an ointment that reduces appearances of scars. REMEMBER: Patience and Consistency is the key to clear skin. Results may take a few days or weeks...but be patient. Okay~I forgot to add my tip for scars & unevenly colored skin. Your skin cells regenerate every month. The best thing to keep skin smooth & even-looking is to exfoliate-exfoliate-exfoliate!!! I simply cannot stress how important this is for pretty skin. NOT exfoliating keeps the layer of dead skin cells on your skin and makes it appear blotchy & unhealthy & and those dead skin cells will harbor bacteria & cause more blemishes. I usually just buy a face or body scrub that is on sale, but I've also discovered that there is great stuff to use at home. Plain old baking soda is WONDERFUL for exfoliating your face & body for everyday use while washing your face or in the shower. Just keep a container next to the sink to sprinkle on your hands after you wash your face while it is still wet. (It is also the BEST deoderant EVER! I haven't bought deoderant in years. After my underarms are washed & dry, I pat baking soda under them and NO BODY ODOR)! My most favorite body exfoliant is plain old sugar. I keep a plastic champagne glass full of plain, white sugar (but any sugar will do), in my shower. (Watch out for ants though...I had to put an ant trap a few feet away on the window sill). I just pour sugar onto my soapy washcloth and exfoliate my face & body. It is a good scrub, is sweet, and gets rid of all those nasty dead cells on your skin! My skin is glowing when I'm done. Do not scrub so hard you create stinging scrapes or cuts, and make sure you rinse well. ***DO NOT get sugar IN your genital area...this will create a disturbance in the gentle ecosystems there!!!*** Have Fun!!!

FOR ACNE. Hello Ladies~ I am a Mexican American with a dark complexion and have suffered from acne & scarring on the skin. The best thing to do for acne is to use plain antibacterial soap to wash your face. Then follow with 10% benzoyl peroxide. Use spf 30 sunscreen on your dark areas to prevent the sun from making them darker. If you HAVE to pop your acne, (which your shouldn't but we all do), wash your hands 1st!!! DO NOT OVER PICK!!! Immediately saturate the pimple with plain old hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball. This will bubble beneath the skin and look like a whitehead, but it's just the peroxide working and it will kill all the bacteria in the popped pimple and surrounding it. After the Hydrogen Peroxide is dry apply the benzoyl peroxide. Use both 3 times a day the next day. On the 2nd day there will be a slight scab/scar. The best thing to heal this is Neosporin. Most people do not like to use this on acne since it is a thick ointment, but just rub in a little, tiny bit!!! Remember, your acne is actually a small,open wound and Neosporin is a triple antibiotic ointment (or you can get it in cream form). These antibiotics will kill the bacteria and heal your skin fast with minimal scarring! Remember the 5 things you need: 1. Antibacterial Soap 2. Hydrogen Peroxide 3. Benzoyl Peroxide 4. Sunscreen 5. Neosporin (use sparingly)! GOOD LUCK!!! P.S. All white people LOVE dark skin!!! Why do you think tanning parlours, beds, & sunless tanning creams are a billion dollar industry here in America??? Because EVERYONE WANTS TO BE DARK!!

I know that when younger, oh my teens i sufferde with acne for a couple of years. These finally went due to Hormonal imbalances as youngers tend to go through. Some suffer worse than others I did. Hi ladies I know exactly what you are going through. I can offer a few tips that may prove useful for acne/acne scarring. The first thing to do is relax and not let this take up to much of your life.Then make sure that your skin is washed twice a day, BOIRE blackhead facewash is really good when used twice a day, also you could try the Body shop Aloe vera scub, which gets rid of dead skin but is not so harsh on the skin. Another thing you need to do no matter what you are using to wash your face is to steam it every wk. Do this by putting hot water in a bowel and placing a towel over your head, it works better if you put a herbal teabag in the water, the one I use is ginseng and blackcurrent . Many ladies on this site have recommened egg facewash this is very good as well. Just use the white of the egg, wisk it up until frothy then apply it to your face, you willfind your skin feels alot tighter afterwards,and the protein will help to clear your skin. I am not into skin bleaching , cause I believe natural products when used regulary do a good job. Tea tree oil is good for spots just dab a little bit on the spot/ scar. If you have access to the Body shop then I really recommend that you try the botanics pore perfecting face mask. When I tried this for the first trime I was really impressed. Your skin will look really radiant. Normal clay mask is good as well. Products with witch hazel are good to.A really good home made face mask is oatmeal mixed with water, you need the finely gined one though. Ladies I have offered you almost all my tips for a path to claer skin, you need to make sure that you get enough sleep and drink enough water. I understand that you would like to have flawless skin but I've tried them all and it leaves your skin blotchy, uneven and you don't want you face to be lighter then the rest of your body. Stick to using natural stuff such as Aloe Vera plant, Shea butter & black soap. If you choose the path of chemial treatment, NOT natural skin care seek the help of a Dermatologist. hi everyone, i've had minor acne my entire life. im now 18 years of age and ive had alot of experiences with lots of different products. Yes ive tried proactive, pills, nutrogena, clean and clear and some of the products worked for me for getting rid of acne. it did leave my skin kinda dry or sometimes oily but it always worked. Getting rid of the acne was one problem the next problem was to get rid of the dark spots left by acne. ive done alot of research on this and was told to use products with hydroxy quinone, tretinoin, tropical steroids, alpha hydroxy acid creams, azelic acid. recently ive bought a product cell-abration made by oleda baker which contains alfa-hydroxy acids. This is for youthify the skin and to fade dark brown spots left on the face. ive used it for about 2 weeks and realized it was for old people. lol. it did help alittle to fade the dark spots but not worth the cost. a good cheap home remedie to cure hyperdarkimpigmintaion is to use aloe vera gel. IT helps peel the old skin off and create new colorless skin underneith. ive had many dark spots over my entire face but they have all gone away. This spot i have on my forehead will hopefully go away soon aswell. The more you look at it and worry about it the longer it seems to take to go away. If you just forget about it and and not worry about it then sooner or later you will look in the mirror and realize that its gone or hardly noticable. until that day dont worry about it because stress creates more pimples. I most recently posted something about a soap called dudu osun, about six months ago. i am happy to anounce since then my skin looks so much better, my mother even said it and she usually doesn't say anything about my acne issue. since the 5th grade my acne was severe, my 8th grade graduation picture looks a mess. huge,nasty whiteheads,scars and scabs oily nose and forehead i felt so ugly, people had the skin i wanted and i rarely got any attention. in my new regime against acne i stopped using the flori roberts scrub, not because it didn't work, but because it was 20$ for a small container of facial scrub,but it worked great while it lasted. instead i have commited to using the st.ives facial scrub also available in sensitive, after all i'm a teenager and i don't make that much money it only cost me 3 dollars. in using the scrub it works the same as the flori roberts and i only use it 2-3 times a week to avoid scratching up my acne which will create scarring and leave dark spots i also stopped scrubbing so hard with the scrub becauase its scrub and it is supposed gently take way dead skin and leave your skin smooth. I have continued to use dudu osun which is made in africa and has worked wonders on my skin. i use it twice a day and rinse my skin first with warm water to open my pores NOT HOT OR IT WILL DO DAMAGE TO YOUR SKIN ESPECIALLY WHEN USING THIS SOAP!!! then i gently rub the bar on my skin and gently rub in an outward circular motion for about a minute and rinse off with luke warm water and rinse with cold water to tighten my pores. more tips: *avoid scrubbing it will make your skin oilier and and make the appearance of your acne worse. *drink at least 6-8 glasses of water a day ( i drink at least 7 but i may drink a pop every once and while but not before bed) *try to eat less junk food and fried food. ( i cheat every once and a while too.) *avoid touching your face: lets keep it real its my own habit it your one of those people like i am wash your hands more often. * get that sleep i get at least six to eight hours of it and its made a big difference, my skin heals faster. * stop picking at your skin you'll leave scars to break this habit which i usually do at home, i might put honey or toothpaste on places where i might pick at. *usually after washing my skin in the morning it is very dry so i use a moisturizer that that does not clog my pores. i use clean&clear face moisturizer (read the bottle im not sure which kind) * i don't use make-up i only use lip gloss. *i wash my head scarf,and pillow cases as much as i can about every two weeks. * keep my hair out of my face as much as possible and wash my hair every 2 weeks. i'm black the less water for my hair the better.

If you want natural method you have to use malayee (boil milk slowly & then let the malayee cool off then apply few drops on the skin with few drops of lemon). Hi everyone. I have tried the Fade-out cream that alot of you talk about and it does work on fading brown marks. At the moment I am using Epidermx (a home use microdermabrasion cream) to treat old acne scars and brown marks. It works by getting rid of dead and damaged skin cells and eventually you achieve clearer skin. (There's more to it than that but you'll have to read up on it yourselves). It can also be used for wrinkles, uneven skin tone, in-growing hairs from shaving, shaving bumps and so on.However - don't necessarily expect quick results. This system works over months rather than days or weeks. I've been using it for about 3 weeks now and my skin does look a bit smoother. Some of the scarring and pitting I had from acne seems to be smoothing out a tiny bit and the brown marks look as though they might be starting to fade. I also a glycolic acid skin peel once a week when I'm not doing a microdermabrasion treatment and I also use copper peptide cream on my face daily - which is a skin re-modelling product that helps get rid of scarring. A word of caution to everyone. Before you start treating "black marks" make sure you know what they are and exactly what you are treating. I had terrible scarring acne and I met a woman from Iran who told me to try Plain yogurt (with live bacterial cultures in it) mixed with honey. It works! This mixture did what dermatologists and presciption medicines failed at. I wash my face as usual with a gentle(i.e. baby wash) wash and then apply the yogurt & honey mixture and let it set until dry and then rinse. In addition to this eat a cup of yogurt atleast 3 days a week, drink your 8 glasses of water a day, snack on raw vegetables and you will see improvement in a week or two. The yogurt is effective because it contains beneficial bacteria called acidofilus. These "good" bacteria help detoxify the gastro-intestinal tract by destroying the bad bacteria. Bad skin is a symptom of a deeper problem inside the body. Remember, the skin is an organ that eliminates waste through its sebaceous and sweat glands. Therefore if your body is toxic, it will show on your skin. Try this it works and it's natural! If you can't eat yogurt you can still use the yogurt face mask in conjuction with the acidofilus, which can be purchased at a wholistic health store like The Health Wagon or GNC. God bless u all!

a change of diet definately plays a major part in what comes out on our bodies. We must try to eat balanced diets that include a lot of detoxing agents such as alfalfa - you know the greenish stuff a lot of water and stay away from the processed foods (cans, ready made, refined etc, etc.) if you wear make-up it has to come off at the end the night (ladies pls wash thoses faces!) and use a moisturizer - depending on what type of spots - normal = cocoa butter, facial scrubs (good one is clinque products) and acne = try clinque turnaround cream (not toner - may be too harsh) and use tea tree oil in the night (no normal creams please) or some squeezed lemon on a cotton wool and dab the face.(very good) but it must be the neat one not one with other stuff in it; put this in some water and (few drops) and wash the face with this. Then dab on your face with cotton wool. Last and not least guy please try not to pick your face - I know its the hardest part try to discipline yourselves it will work. I will look up some more solutions (natural of course) and then try to give replys but ones I have tried as well. God Bless

I have suffered with marks for most of my life. I am now 32 and still suffering. I have noticed that there are a lot of problems but not much solutions to the problems. We are all (most) black people suffering from the same problems and not as blessed as those who have not had to suffer. i do not recommend bleaching agents unless one does not mind the skin colour increasing in shade. I for one would prefer to use a more natural approach and if anyone who knows of something or even if it is not so harsh but definately works please help us - it is not a nice way to be when you have these defects. First, try and eat lots of raw green foods. Do not pick. Use very hot water on a q-tip or steam over pot of hot water with a towel over your head. Be very careful! Use the cremes mentioned with hydroquinone for bleaching. Make sure they have no oil. Watch your diet. Eat five vegetables, mostly green and raw and five fruits daily. This will help your body to cleanse itself. Do not eat fred foods or junk food. Most junk foods have hydrogenated fats which cause acne. Eat good oils like olive oil.
