Mouse: Sounds like you are holding a grudge and rationalizing keeping your kids from their grandparents. Mark my words: your kids will resent you for doing that! I know, my parents kept me from my grandparents because my mom left her home in anger and never bothered to get to the truth or forgive. She kept us kids from her parents as a result and lied to us about them. She never tried to reconcile with her parents and can't even remember why she is so angry. Our cousins would tell us how great my grandparents were and how much they loved them. We felt mom deprived of this love. My brothers and sisters hate mom for doing this. Today we are all very close to our grandparents now that we are of age. Sad mom has wasted all these years doing what she told us not to!

parents do come in different shapes and sizes. I wonder what kind of grandparents we will make when our turn comes. and will our own children deny access to our grand children

Great points but when you have parents who don't respect you as a parent and constanly calculate every dime and dollar they spend, teach their children about being unemotional, stop their daughter from attending the wedding of her own sibling-those kinds of parents are not worth exposing your child to, as you don't want your child to learn the wrong values.
