Name: priti Country: U.S.A. Comment: hi, i have two boys.one age 3yrs and younger one age 18 months.the younger one always slept in his crib since he is born, but recently he started to get up in the middle of the night and cry till i put him on my bed.i don,t understand what to do? and why he is change so much. Name: Shakira Country: Canada Comment: Both my children slept in their own baby cot from the day they were born. For the first 6 months the cot was in my room but after that I shifted them into their own room. Despite being tempted to bring them into my bed to make night breastfeeding easy I decided to take the hardship and get up each time and put them back in. The hard work did pay off. Both my kids started sleeping through the night by the time they were about 7 months and are into such good routines now because they are used to their own room & environment from a young age. Infact,my little one is outstanding, she is 20 months old and like clock work at 7pm she is tired and she will hold my hand and take me into her room and point at her cot asking me to put her inside. The minute I put her in and kiss her good night that's it...she goes to sleep by herself. It has given my husband and I more quality time to spend our evenings nicely with the kids gone to bed as well as our privacy of not having our children in our bed. Some ppl may not agree with me but I think the longer you wait to transfer you kids into their own rooms and through bedtime routines the harder it gets. And Mira you should not promote your 14 year old son coming into your bed at night. If he comes, it would be a good idea to take him back to his room and sleep with him for a while until he falls asleep. Keep on doing that until and eventually he will stop coming into your bed. Because you have never said no probably from a young age or may be he slept in your bed when he was little he is looking for that comfort zone and security even now. But he is 14!
