Some of it may be true but I also think some of the advice is wrong and very dangerous. Firstly, discussing goals with a child is a silly suggestion. A child does understand and does not have the benefit of experience to make decision at that age. Using example of Sania Mirza and Tiger Woods etc is very dangerous, as these are exceptions to the rule. The risk here is that parents start to push their child to emulate these greats and for every one Tiger Woods there are thousands whose lives have been destroyed by their parents. The best approach is to give children a balanced exposure to studies and sports and other interest. A wide base is very important for their future. A child with particular talents will automatically shine. Parents should encourage the talents-without putting pressures of comparisons with the greats or results. Children should have the exposure, fun and also understand their duties /disciplined. A good balance between fun, exposure and discipline will ultimately lead to good results.
