My daughter is obessed with barbie and disney princesses and any doll. I don't find it disturbing. We had dolls as kids and I think that it is role playing and all these are phases of growing up. most girls play with dolls so why is it so disturbing to some. Barbie is a mature figure diplaying how a mom looks in a child's eye. When a child plays with a doll they are displaying all the qualities of what she sees in her mother. I find that quite flattering actually. It is not the doll the child is obessed with it. I think parents should encourage creativity and imagination in our upcoming future leaders.

i too am worried. I stopped buying barbies. Now my girl,5 is obsessed with disney princesses. she says she wants to grow up and be a princess. though it is entirely untrue.
