This article, though stating mainstream or common beliefs, is incorrect. Labor does not have to be induced within 24 hours just because your water has broken. It has to be induced if a doctor has done an internal exam. Internal exams introduce bacteria to the sterile environment. Unless labor is in full swing it is best to refuse an exam.
