My advice to you all trying to get pregnant is to see a doctor and start taking your prenatal vitamins. Hi! I am 22 years old ....I got on the pill when I was 14 years old and got pregnant at the age of 15 thought I got pregnant because I did miss a few pills but then when I was taking the pill right the second time and got pregnant I decided to take the depo (needle) I never started taking that untill I went with my second b/f when we started getting serious in 2004 been on that for a year and an half and gained alot of weight but never had any periods which I thought was a good thing but I decided to get off that and get the mirena (IUD) I only took that for about 4 months because me and my now fieance decided that we are ready have a baby...having a few simptoms latly but haven't had a pregnancy test done yet ..hope we are one of the lucky ones ....My point is everyone is so different and I wish all you guys luck!!

I have heard that it takes 3 months to get the pill out of your system but apparently you become fertile again straight away. Some women have concieved just a few weeks after stopping the pill but everybody is different and it may take longer for some women to get pregnant.

to barbie8118 - of course there is a chance that you could be pregnant. work out when you ovulate (which is your most fertile time) and if you had unprotected sex during that time then you have a higher chance of pregnancy. Take a hpt or go see your doctor and have a blood test, they are very accurate. to Mercedez - Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I would definately go and see the doc and find out more about these cysts on your ovaries that have supposedly dissolved before you try for a baby again.

This is for the girl in South Africa who is trying to get pregnant. Try taking 800mg. of Folic Acid per day. When my husband and I started trying for a a baby, I did this and became pregnant the very first month. I'm not sure how or why it works, all I can tell you is what happened for me. Hey girls, a little bit of advise.....I am 31 years old. I have been with my husband for 8 years and we were trying to get pregnant for 6 years. If you are noticing that your periods are less and less or if they are non-existent, PLEASE go see a OB/GYN to make sure that everything is okay. I haven't had a period for 3 years now. I have PCOS (Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) which is a "disease" that if not caught in time can render you infertile. I will never be able to have children. I want to so badly, but sadly I cannot. As soon as you realize that something is wrong, you need to go see your doctor. Also, you can get pregnant at any time - even when you are on your period. Don't think that because you have your period that it is safe to have unprotected sex - you can get pregnant!! hi, before I started taking birth control my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex for a month using withdrawl and about 3 times he accidentially came. I started taking the pill the next month and I started having tender breast, brownish fluid and some dry blood for a period, abdomnial pain (like exercise cramps), increase appetite (sp), fatigue, weight gain, nausea. I took a pregnancy test and it came up negative. This month I missed a pill, had sex the next day, forgot to take the pill that day. The next day we decided to us condoms for the rest of the month b/c he's worried about the symptoms I had are a result of me being pregnant. Since I missed 3 and now officialy stop taking them, I got my period (or something like it) 2 weeks after the last one, 4 days after we had sex, it last for a 1 with the same brown fluid and dried dead blood and some red spotting. Nothing heavy. If I'm not pregnant already, what are my chances of being pregnant now that we had sex and I stopped using the pill a day before? I still have all the symptoms, some get more than the other, but on different days. But the abdomnial pain is still there when i'm sitting or laying down, I feel like my stomach is trying to stretch. *sigh* could someone please tell me whats wrong?

Ok, I just saw a few more I wanted to address. You need to take the pill everyday for it to be effective. If you skipped a day, then your system is messed up for the next month and you need to go buy condoms. Taking 3 pills in one day will NOT make up for your missed days. Sometimes while on a form of birth control urine pregnancy tests may come up as Positive even if you are not. This is because of the hormones in the birth control and the effects it has on your body. Blood pregnancy tests are effective and great. If you are ever concerned go get a blood pregnancy test..or if it's not possible cuz sometimes it can take 2 weeks to get results....remember that the Morning After pill is great for those little mistakes or scares. I'm not trying to sell it....but if you are unable to handle a baby it this point in your life then it is always better to be safe and use the resources at hand. Birth control can show pregnant like symptoms...especially the depo shot! Weight gain, increased appetite, migraines, moodiness, no periods, tender breasts... And remember DO NOT take the depo-provera shot for longer than 5 years because it causes osteoperosis. After 2 years on the shot.. your bone density decreases...but if you stop taking it before 5 years then it can be reversible. Remember to always take a calcium supplement. The Copper IUD is a good form of birth control if you don't want hormones. The copper IUD does not contain hormones. It has copper wiring (so don't use it if you are allergic to copper). Copper kills sperm. It's safe and effective and can last up to 10 years!

I will try to answer some questions that I actually know some information about. I work in a blood lab. Yes, you can become pregnant if you have unprotected sex even if you are breastfeeding a baby you had a month ago. You can become pregnant even if you are not ovulating or have not been for a few months. If you stop taking any form of birth control it is possible to become pregnant the next day. On average after discontinuing the depo-provera shot, you will become pregnant anywhere from 6 months to 5 years down the road. The most common is 18 months after your last shot...so good luck! If you are ever unsure that you might be pregnant DO NOT stop taking your birth control. Immediately see a doctor for a pregnancy test or take the Emergency Contraceptive Morning After pill just in case. The depo shot is a great form of birth control, but it does take your body quite a long time to return back to "normal". The ortho-evra is an excellent form of birth control if taken properly. I've been on the pill for some time, and have had trouble remembering to take it, so my doctor put me on the patch instead so it's easier for me and my body. He told me to stop the pill immidiately (even though my hormones are way out of line) and wait until I get my period before starting the patch. He told me that the first day my period starts should be day one of the patch. I've done some research - some of you may benefit from knowing: * that you shouldn't expect to get preg straight after coming off the pill. * Each woman is different, so some do get pregnant quickly, but others it might be several months or a year or so * So when coming off the pill, you should be prepared in case it happens, but don't expect it to happen quick if you know what I mean. * It can take up to 10 months after coming off the pill for a womans cycle to get back to normal (whatever normal is for her). I strongly advise people to read about the billings method (read the book written by Dr Evelyn Billings). I wish i had of known this info earlier - would have saved lots of anxiety. Us women need to be empowered to know about our bodies - stuff i read in the book I think every woman should know (then it's up to you if you still choose to use the pill or not). Knowledge is power girls ....read, find out about it and then make an informed choice. As for me, I'm not going on the pill again. And, i'm not as anxious that I'm not preg yet. It'll happen.

As soon as you suspect that you are pregnant, just stop the pills. There is no documentation nor is there proof that they can harm your child!!! That is false and many women can attest to that. Just remember when you conceive a baby, your genes are always the biggest factor. (provided you take care of yourself once you find out you are pregnant) THe majority of babies are born healthy. If you are pregnant (or suspect that you are) stop drinking alcohol and do not take any medication. Start prenatal vitamins and folic acid and go see your doctor. Also, it is usually recommended that you stop the pills 3 months before you get pregnant. This is not because it is harmful, but because that is generally the amount of time that it takes for the cycle to return to normal. This gives you a better idea of when you conceived. Some women get pregnant immediately following the stoppage of the pill while others may take years. Every woman is different. If you have been trying for a year and nothing has happened, you may want to take the next step and make an appointment to visit a clinic. There are many resources out there that can help you.The internet is not always your best source but can be helpful. One more thing, you can get pregnant while breastfeeding--- it is not a form of birth control. It happens to many women. You should combine breast feeding with a low dose pill , condoms or another method. If you are trying to get pregnant try not to get stressed out about it -- have fun! Having babies is what makes the world go around!

This is to answer a question for some one on here (Please Answer in the USA)... I got pregnant while on Depo! I have gotten a total of 3 shots. I started getting symptoms of my period (sore breasts, cramps, moodiness) but I didn't get my period, so I went to the doctor. I had to take a blood test and sure enough it came up that I was indeed pregnant. If you ask me, birth control is crap... it only works for some people but not all. I am on necon, first month, and I was put on antibiotics because of wisdom tooth infections. I was only on the pill for eleven days when I started spotting, nothing bad, but I did cramp. If your period starts today -you ovulated 14 days ago. In order to predict when you will ovulate next -you will need to have regular periods. Just remember -No period equals no ovulation -No ovulation equals no pregnancy. If you aren't having regular periods, it's most likely due to hormone imbalance. If you are over weight, sometimes getting rid of extra pounds can get things working normal again. Hormone therapy can sometimes help -ask your doctor. A late period happens sometimes, and that doesn't always mean pregnancy. All you can do is wait and test. A blood test will be more accurate. If you think you're pregnant -STOP taking the pill! Birth control pills can cause health problems, and as with any medication, the risk must be measured against the need. It is always more difficult to get pregnant for the first time. The average woman trying to get pregnant for the first time, usually will not conceive for about nine months. After one pregnancy, it is always much easier to get pregnant again. Be careful - it doesn't take every woman nine months of trying to get pregnant. Just don't give up too easy if it takes you a year to conceive. Good luck to all. I took prenatal vitamins to help prepare my body and used a fertility chart you can get off internet to chart your fertile days it seemed to work like a charm for me. 4 months later after being off the pill we got pregnant. March 30, 2004 I had my little girl. Try to wait at least 3 months to start trying. I see that alot of you have questions on fertility and infertility and yet this site does not alow much on answering your questions directly. so here are a few answers for a few of you.. and if you have more questions you can email me at spirit_wispirs@yahoo.com. first for teju..... it takes time for your body to return to a normal state after pregnancy even if you have an abortion you were still pregnant and had a D&C so give it time. Jade...... if in several months after stopping you want to try by all means go ahead. Remember though that there is a possibility of twins in the first month after stopping the pill.. good luck. gyspy .......... have you tried the sponge? or IUD or Cervical Cap? Ann.. have you tried Red Rasberry leaf tea? this tea tends to help with problems of the female sex. See if this helps . good luck momo........ i suggest you seek professional help.. mood swings can be caused by many things. This could also be from your pills. you might need them to be alterd a bit for you. melinda............ YES you can get pregnant while you breastfeed... mary........ keep trying. conception can happen at any time as long as the sperm are there when you ovulate you have a super chance of getting pregnant. I have been on birthcontrol for 6 years and I have never had a problem with them at all and trust me if it were harmful I wouldn't have taken them for so long. THey work by producing the hormons you would have if you were pregnant so your body thinks you are pregnant, so you don't ovulate. No harm in that.

the info I saw on the last page, about the risk of fetal deformities if you get pregnant too soon after stopping the pill, is completely false! Studies have shown that it is fine to get pregnant immediately after going off the pill, and that there are no increased risks of deformity/problems! I quit the pill in Aug. 2002.. it is now May 2003 and I have yet to have a moon (period) without the assistance of herbs (vitex). Per my doctor I have to quit the herbs for 3 months and see what my body does on its own. While searching the web I found several links to webrings of women who, after the pill, aren't regular and need other pills (clomid, etc..) to induce their moons and or ovualtion. Any time you introduce man made chemicals to your body, Be Ware! I just finished bawling because I have failed another ovulation test. Also research the link between cervical cancer and the pill.
