Name: Aparna Country: India Comment: That was a good artical but I am left with so many questions. We moved from US to India last year when my daughter was 2 yrs then. In India its joint family and my daughter who was so well behaved has suddenly changed with all the pampering she gets from her grandparents and now I am the bad person with her with all my rules. I had to put her in school but that did not help much either. So I think it does not matter really as long as the mother has a firm hand and no third person interfers in raising the child Name: maneka Country: U.S.A. Comment: I really like this article.I was getting so frustrated these days with my soon to be 3 year old,who is extremely active and needs constant occupation in some ways.and I don't seem to have energy. But I will surely try and plan my day accordingly as per the article.but don't you all feel that they need outside interaction to be alone with other kids. How about twice a week church school programs for them to get used to outside surrondings?any ideas on that? Name: Monika Country: U.S.A. Comment: I liked the article very much. Doing simple and fun activites with my three year old gives me tremendous satisfaction and lifetime memories. I think the appropriate age of sending a child to a proper school is around five. But, definitely, around age three, the child is ready to go to a play school for two-three hours. The child requires some outside interaction and at this age it is very difficult to keep the child occupied all the time and stimulated in a positive way. Name: a Country: india Comment: Its true that kids in the age group of 2-4 require lots of stimulation and fun all the time. The existing set up of nuclear families leave most stay at home mothers quite occupied taking care of the little ones. Naturally, play schools tend to provide marginal relief to such moms. However, I would want to know what is it that play schools provide for the development of the child which moms cannot do so at home. I am also surprised that most reputed play schools charge very high fees for a year. If you were to invest the same money in procuring additional help for household work, you could give more time and better manage the activities of your child. Plus your little one really does not require to be bound to a particular routine of getting up, going to school etc…at such a tender age. Let them be free souls and do what please them and whenever. Name: saritha Country: U.S.A. Comment: very nice article,I have a 3 year old kid, notyet going to school.I planned his day like u mentioned inthe article, please give more ideas. Name: monisha Country: india Comment: i have a one and a half year old. i do all that, but he still has mind space and the energy to be in school, which he starts in june. it is beyond me to keep him gainfully occupied and stimulated. and he would benefit by being with other children and having another adult play with him. there is nothing wrong in sending babies in diapers to a good play school Name: Rita Country: U.S.A. Comment: I agree with this. Here in the US and even in Russia kids start their first grade only when they are six years old. They seem to be doing well. It’s only in India that kids are forced into school long before they are ready. Separating a two or three year old from his or her home surrounding should be avoided at all costs.
