I forgot to add, however, that Ten Commandments and Scarlet Pimpernel are good movies. As well as Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility. Other great family films include: Miracle, Remember the Titans, The Legend of Johnny Lingo, Because of Winn-Dixie, etc.

I disagree and think that Braveheart, Gladiator and Titanic are just too violent and inappropriate for children. One can find better movies that are more geered towards families that can also teach children history without teaching them the violence. Studies have shown that violent movies and have a negative effect on children exposed to them.
