10 Things That Can Upset Your Child's Teacher

10 Things That Can Upset Your Child's Teacher

Your child’s teachers want your child to succeed and they expect your co-operation for the same. However, if you keep complaining for petty issues, you can make life difficult for yourself, your child and your child’s teacher. Read about 10 things parents do that can really upset child’s teacher.

Parents are passionate and eager to get their kid on the right track, and teachers are devoted to do the same work. Every teacher wants to hear from parents. But sometimes, emotions run high, and what the parents say does not come out in the best way, and that can definitely makes the teacher crazy and feel upset. Here are the top 10 things that can upset your child’s teacher.

1. Parents Missing Their Child’s Award Ceremony

It is very important for you to be present when your child is getting awards or rewarded for his or her achievements or good academic performance. If you promise to come and do not show up, it is not much of a good sign to the teacher.

2. Parents Asking to Punish Other Children for Bullying

It is the teacher’s responsibility how to take action if your child is bullied. You can definitely discuss it with the teacher but cannot ask him or her to punish the other child because it is the teacher who would investigate if your child is also responsible for the bullying, and then he or she can decide.

3. Parents Complain About Study Pressure

When parents complaint about study pressure or too much of homework, it is very annoying for the teacher because he or she already has planned the lesson plan and distributed it throughout the course. You should work with your kid in time management without complaining.

4. Parents Give Excuses for Their Child’s Incomplete Homework

Teachers have the right to know why the homework is incomplete or not done. But it is better to allow your kid to face the consequences instead of reasoning it yourself to the teacher for why your kid’s homework is not done.

5. Parents Complain That the Homework Is Tough for the Child

Parents often complain that the homework is tough for their child. This is wrong. If your child finds difficulty in finishing the homework, you should always help him or her rather than complaining about how difficult the homework was for your child.

6. Parents Complain About New Curriculum

Parents complain that their teachers ask kids to do something which is not the part of curriculum, so why their child will do such homework. You should always remember one thing that teachers never ask kids to do whatever is out of their curriculum. It is the waste of time for both teachers as well as kid. You should try to find out if you have missed out on something by discussing it calmly with your child’s teacher. Moreover, teachers will only ask kids to do as per the curriculum which is pre-decided by the board which your child’s school is following.

7. Parents Ask for One More Chance

The teacher always observes the student and then punishes him or her after repeated warnings. When parents come up to the teacher requesting for chance, it really upsets the teacher because he or she may have already given a chance to their kid earlier.

8. Parents Assume Their Child Is Bored

Parents sometimes say that their child is bright but unable to act up because he or she is bored. You want the best for your child but you should be honest with yourself. You should know why really your child is acting up. Is he or she really bored? No! Find the actual reason and ask the teacher for how to deal with it.

9. Parents Say Their Child Is Brilliant

Parents cannot wait to explain how bright and brilliant their child is. They start explaining how good their child is. It is better if you should leave it on the teacher to decide how your child is and let her discuss about that with you during the parent-teacher meeting.

10. Parents Directly Reach the Director

It is both disrespectful and unproductive to reach directly to the director or the superintendent with issues regarding the school or your child. The first thing you will be asked for is to talk to the teacher.
Teachers play an important role in academics of children. Most parents work well with the teachers, but things can go wrong and life can get difficult for the child, the parent, and of course the teacher. The first thing for you to do is to consider your child’s teacher as a partner. The teacher wants your child to succeed; you just need to be patient and co-operate with her for the better of your child.

How to maintain good relationship with child’s school teachers? How to communicate with child’s teachers? What should parents avoid asking child’s teachers to do? Discuss here.

Sometimes when kids do not do well in studies we blame their teachers. However, parents and kids are mainly responsible for the failure...teachers are always right. In India teachers are given the place of 'Guru' which is equal to God so we must teach our kids to respect teachers.
