Yes, shifting house is a herculian task, but these days the packers are such experts and take such good care that what requires is some preplanning and listing of details ahead of the d-day. These days your requirement for cartons and tapes are taken care of by the professional movers. Things that can be managed ahead and done yourself include packing clothes and important papers including books and documents. Shifting is also a good time to get rid of unwanted stuff. Its a good tip to not dispose of the raddi as it helps packing delicate items. Also try conserve energy for unpacking as the P&Ms are not much help in that regard, they may at most place the boxes in the designated rooms etc but in the end its our job to unpack, place the things in their right place and dispose the carton. Unpacking can go for on for a month at times, as many a times you tend to struggle with small things including nails and shelves.
