The leucoderma is also called vitiligo in latin. Stating that vitiligo is uncurable is incorrect just as stating that vitiligo is completely curable. Different people respond to treatments differently. I have read funny questions in this section. Vitiligo is not contagious. India has abundance of sun, thus many people can treat vitiligo. May I add that Leucoderma is curable. My own daughter, age 8 was completely cured and is still so. She is 50 now. I only know what we applied and the restrictions. I am 53yrs old, having luecodrema since 45yrs. I have learned to live with it and manage it. Melanine density under the skin is responsible for the skin colour. More the melanine density, darker the skin. It is delicate substance in nature more so, if one is prone with luecoderma. Vitamin C/ascobic acid / citric acid accelarate depigmentation. So, avoid foods and fruits that contain Vit C. Also be careful when you are advised to take B complex/ Vitamin tonic/tablets. Check before you use. Avoid pickles, fruit juices, have a nutritive value book (published by National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad) as reckoner. I have tried Unani, I didn't get good result but I saw my fellow patients showing good result. My Homoeopathy attempt was not a sincere one, because of my career committments, but I could see some improvement in my patches. My ayurvedic treatment included of application of 'Babchi seed powder' mixed in sour butter milk. Yes, I found some improvement. In all cases, after application of medicine the patches was exposed to morning sunlight. Ultraviolet rays stimulates pigmentation.So,there will be reddishness and itchy feeling. Gradually pigmentation occurs as treament progresses, pigmentation is quicker in areas most exposed to Sun and areas having hair than areas not having hair(palms,lips, ankles). I was somewhat honest in trying Allopathy treatment. ONE Melanocyle tablet at around 9am, used to have Sun bath at around 10.30 (till 11.30am). I avoided Vit.C totally. I had a very good response. Takes few weeks to see response please have patience. Because of luecoderma, I have undergone lots of suffering, sort of rejection from family particularly they avoded me in some important social events. It used to hurt me deeply. I am an introvert, intelligent and talented. I always had a few good friends who cared for me. Since I was working , I got the recognition and respect that I deserve. I married late at the age of 35. after knowing my mate for 5-6 yrs. We both are of same age. He considers my qualities as most important than my skin problem. He is very good to me. I have 15yr old daughter, she says the same. For better schooling, I had to put her to a residential school(just 4 months back) since 2 months my luecoderma problem has increased and I am back to melanocyle treatment. There is a condition very much looking like vitiligo, but is not. It is called Tinea Versicolor. Just to be sure try a shampoo it is medicated Selsun Blue. I have vitiligo for 16 year now. But I don't give up! Keep believing thet something will help. There are herb for every pain and complain;))) The last info that I got is: You can rub into the white spots a few times a day: - castor oil -St, John wort alcohol tincture -melon pulp - strong black tea( take 1 teaspoon of loose black tea, add 1/4 cup of boiling water, boil it for 2-3 minutes, filter it and let it cool.You can keep it in the refrigaretor for 2 days. Shake before using it) Take a half fig and rub the white spots with it. Prepare the following salve: take 100 of vaseline and add 5 gr. of aspirin( if you use pills, crush them thoroughly) Rub the salve in the white spots and lie out in the sun. The color of your skin should become even in abour 10 days. Be careful and try NOT TO GET SUNBURN. The Bandaranaike Ayurveda Research Institute in Sri Lanka has found a permanent cure derived from a medicinal herb for the skin disease leucoderma. Over 6,000 patients annually seek treatment at this centre, the Institute’s Medical Officer Dr. Pushpa Wickramasinghe said. The institute conducted extensive research and has established that ‘Bakuchi’ oil, extracted from a medicinal herb, applied on the white patches to the body is a most effective cure. "We have cured around 100 patients and a large number is currently undergoing treatment. There is a delay in seeking ayurveda treatment as the majority of the patients start off with western treatment and after failing switch to ayurveda treatment. This causes a delay as early treatment enables fast recovery", she said. The increased uses of pesticides, chemicals, fast foods, hair dye and lipstick are the common causes, she explained. This is a disease that is found among all age groups and it passes on from one generation to the next. However, with the curative process we carry out, the patients can lead a normal social life. The clinic at the institute is conducted on every Thursday from 8 am to 12 noon. Treatment is also available at the regional Ayurveda Centres

I feel sorry who commented mentioning its magic and your comments are not true that its curse due to commiting crime. I have it since birth so what sin did i do before i was born that i got it. However, may be i wil be the first person to be happy and not looking for cure but instead wish to find to increase it. Still did not find solution to increase the white patches... OUr family believe that it if a person develops this disease it is because they have been dishonest and they have been marked out. I believe that is true if I look at the people I know with this rare condition.It is a spirit going inside the body to mark the person.
