Name: fu Country: USA Comment: y ou in the mid Name: Leslie Billings Country: USA Comment: This book appears to be based on long time, well known information taught in university courses for teacher training. The concept is that there are 3 major modes of learning for all humans: Oral/aural, Visual/auditory, and Experiential. You can research on the internet by these words. Try websites and search engines for teachers, teaching, and education. The premiss is that teachers for any age student should present information in a variety of ways so that the learning preferences of everyone in the classroom are met. In no way is the learning theory to be intended to diagnose learning styles or limit methods of instruction. Reliable does show that children have inborn personality and preferences which can be respected for the best possible developement of the child. But again, never with the idea of excluding methods and ways of teaching and learning. An excellent and well respected reference book is about **The 7 Intelligences or areas of giftedness**, written by 2 Harvard University Professors. Find this at Amazon.com under subject headings. The premiss of this book is that children can be born with different, but equal talents. We can teach to the child's strengths without ignoring other areas. However, if a child demonstrates extroardinary interest or talent in one area, why should we waste his/her time on things for which they have no interest, wheen they can develope their talent as a future profession and work? Aloha, Leslie Name: sudeep Country: India Comment: this are very very intersting article. after reading this article ,i am so surprised that about 45% of children are illetrate Name: diane d Country: Other Comment: I'm in new zealand and we are not on your list! Well, this article has very limited applications in my opinion. Most babies display either a combination of the skills listed or all of them. Besides, one would be restricting an all-round development by simply concentrating on the child's strengths. I'm not too sure about the practicality of the information given... maybe I can be enlightened? Name: psychoismail@yahoo.com Country: India Comment: excellent Name: RAJ Country: India Comment: My daughter (a student of calss X) is a hard working, studious, gets the best marks some time but on an average she does not fare well in the Final so far. Name: Purva Country: USA Comment: My daughter is 17 months old and I feel that she is both a looker and a listener. However I feel that she is weak in socialising and therefore I feel that I should try to concentrate on her weakness more than her strengths to make her more versatile. Name: Punam Country: India Comment: I need more specific information and advise for children of the middle school level. Name: Ravi Kulkarni (kulkarniravi@yahoo.com) Country: USA Comment: Unfortunately this whole article (perhaps the book itself) is based on a false assumption, which I quote "The aim of the book is to show parents that while a child’s learning style may be inborn...". Though the article pays lip service to all round development, the focus is what determining what category your child falls in. I think a book or an article that emphasises what you can do between the ages -1 to 3 is more meaningful. There are several things one can do to develop all the five senses during pregnancy and after birth. These result is much more well rounded development in a child. After reading these theories, I do believe that children are intrinsically different and that they should be taught things differently. My son Aditya is certainly a mover.
