Going through household chores, attending office from Monday to Friday, tailoring your life according to your child's routineā¦Life does become a grind sometimes. It drains you of impulse, enthusiasm and zing or in short, everything that puts LIFE into life. Here are some ways to break the monotony and put you back on track.
Breaking the Mould
From getting up at the same hour everyday, to eating the same food every week and watching the same serials each time, you have set a pattern for yourself. Try breaking it in small ways like opting for a leisurely breakfast on Monday instead of Sunday. Get up earlier than normal, go for a walk, stop at a chaiwala or neighborhood coffee shop for a sandwich and chai, followed by a luxurious bath. If you're not working, curl up with a book. Sounds nice? Try it out!
Strangely New
Mothers teach us not to talk to strangers but what would happen if you did? Lots, actually. Join a community or an association. Meet new people. Talk about new topics. Enrolling in an environment club might kindle a passion for gardening, a passion you never knew you had.
On your Mark, Get Set, Go!
Skim through the newspaper and find out various competitions taking place in your city. Participate in any one that you can relate to. An essay competition can be your chance to vent out your feelings about an issue close to your heart. Go out and have fun because you will be the only person who knows that winning, here, is not everything.
Weekend Wise
Most of us don't remember weekends because either we sleep through them or sit down with unfinished chores like spring cleaning. You have two full days without the stopwatch. So, soak in the feeling. Join a dance class, a sport or learn a new craft. Even if you are bad, you can get away with anything because you will be, officially, a learner.
Country Roads
Most of us can't afford a vacation every time we are bored but we can afford a long drive. Don't even pack a picnic basket. Get some munchies, a bottle of water, fuel up your car and drive away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The silence and greenery of the suburbs is a balm for a sore soul.
Polish Up
Cleaning the mirror will leave you with a shiny reflection and tired arms but sprucing up your looks will leave you feeling like a million bucks. Head to the salon, bargain for a head-to-toe package and sink in a cushy chair. The feel-good factor works for every industry and will do wonders for you, too.
Friends Forever
Do you know a person who brings out the real you, who makes you crack up even on old jokes and who accepts you the way you are? For most of us that person is called a friend and most of the times she is just a call away. So, give her a buzz, plan a shopping spree, meet for lunch and catch up where you left off.
These activities are not for tomorrow or next week or someday. Today is the day you realize what you have been missing!
