1. Fixed Schedule

A routine is extremely important and helps your child stay ahead in class. Creating a consistent homework routine will help your child imbibe good study habits. A set place and time for study is very important and this habit should be initiated as early as possible.

2. Environment

The environment where and when your child is studying matters a lot. Set aside a private, quiet place where there is no distraction and good lighting should be allotted for study to your child. Make sure you turn off the television during the time your child is completing her homework.

3. Time Management

Make your child understand the importance of time management and procrastination. Make sure that there is enough time allotted for your child to complete her homework comfortably. Create and set a schedule for long term projects so that it gets completed on time and comfortably as well.

4. Breaks

Just like adults need to take breaks from their daily work, children also need breaks. This improves focus and concentration, prevents fatigue and physical discomforts like eye strain, headache and many more.

5. Asking for Help

There is no harm in asking for help from adults provided your child has taken the effort of solving it on her own. Sometimes, new concepts, which need to be explained and learnt, children need help and they should take from adults at home. This is natural part of learning and studying. Teach your child to ask help especially when she is struggling to solve a question or learn a concept on her own.
Children perform well when they get emotional support from their parents. When your child will see that you are very particular in creating and maintaining the environment at home that helps in her studying, she will understand and focus well on her studies. If you find that despite of all the efforts you are taking, your child is not improving, do not hesitate to take professional helps.
