Is Lactogen an alternative for breast milk

My baby(5 months completed) is not taking lactogen milk, we have initially given her full cream packet milk(buffalo) along with mother milk. Now as per doctor advice, we have started Lactogen, but she is vomiting and reluctant to take lactogen. Plz guide, can we continue buffalo milk or should we start Lactogen.

Lactogen is never an alternative to breast milk. Breastmilk is loaded with nutrients and is easy to digest. It also has immunity boosting properties. A 5 month old baby should be exclusively breastfed. Buffalo milk is difficult to digest and may cause diarrhoea so it is best to be avoided. If you still want to give, then introduce it gradually over a period of time. You can consult your pediatrician and get over your concerns.

Please do not start on Lactogen at this stage. you should try to continue breastfeeding as it will do your baby more good than you can think of. If breast milk is insufficient then only you can give Lactogen. Buffalo milk is too thick so it is best to avoid it till the baby is 1 year old. Cow's milk is better option. Dilute it with water before giving to your baby.
