Antacids are safe during pregnancy if prescribed by the doctor. During pregnancy, heartburn is common so it is better to take antacids to relieve it. But it is better not to go overboard and take them beyond recommended dose.

Heartburn is a part of pregnancy and is harmless but if you severe heartburn, then you need to take over-the-counter remedies. some changes in diet and lifestyle would also help in preventing heartburn. It is also good to consult doctor before popping in medicines.

chewable antacids are safest option as they are made from calcium carbonate.
Antacids which has magnesium hydroxide are also a good.

All of these antacid medicines work by neutralizing the acid that's already in your stomach and causing you pain. Chewable and liquid antacids act much more quickly than tablets because they're already dissolved. You can experiment to see which type works most effectively for you.

During pregnancy avoid antacids that has aluminum as an ingredient as this can cause consipation or in large doses, it is toxic.

Avoid antacids with sodium as it can cause water retention.

Hello all it is quite obvious that there are several pregnant women who suffer from heartburn which is also called as acid indigestion. This situation causes a lot of irritation and uncomfortableness though it is not harmful. These heartburns can be treated with simple over the counter medicines and a simple diet.

Yes it is absolutely safe to take antacids to get rid of heartburns and acidity. Heartburns are mostly caused at night which cause sleepless nights. At this time it is safe to chew an antacid tablet or drink a sip of liquid antacid. These give relief and can help you sleep for the night.

Hi the doctor recommends 3 TUMS for pregnant women during heartburn for instant relief. The Tums also adds up calcium to the body as during pregnancy 1000 mg to 1300 mg calcium is needed per day. The TUMS should be taken at different times as suggested by the doctor.

Hello one gynaecologist advicedme to take antacids containing magnesium oxide or magnesium hydroxide and these are safe for the pregnant women. These also come in the liquid and tablet form. It is preferable if you swallow tablets than drinking liquid antacid as while swallowing a tablet less amount of liquid is required so the stomach produces less acid which you are trying to reduce.

The pregnant women should go for chewable or liquid antacids as they dissolve quickly than the tablets which usually take time. These antacids neutralize the acid and reduce it sometimes causing pain. But these are effective and gives relief.

It is important for pregnant women to avoid the intake of antacids which contain aluminium in it. Antacids containing aluminium carbonate or aluminium hydroxide as an ingredient should be not taken. The intake of antacids containing aluminium can cause constipation and can be toxic if taken in large doses. These are not the best choice when pregnant for a regular intake.

The antacids are available in different fruity flavours, it is suggested that a pregnant women ask the doctors which antacid to take and for how long and also ask which is more effective and long lasting. The acid reducers work like antacids and neutralize but also stop producing the acid in stomach for some time.

Hi all acid reducers are an alternative option for antacids which should be taken before meal for better results. They provide immediate relief from the acid which causes heartburn as the acid reducing medicines are a combination of antacids and acid reducers.

Antacids are medications that reduce the production of acid in your stomach. They are used to treat heartburn and indigestion, as well as to prevent ulcers. The most common types include aluminum and magnesium hydroxide, calcium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, and simethicone. Most antacids can be taken safely when you are pregnant. Treating heartburn and indigestion is important because it will keep you from getting too uncomfortable. Too much acid in your stomach can lead to nausea and vomiting, which can make it difficult for you to eat. It can also cause heartburn, which is known to disrupt the growth of a fetus. But remember that antacids do not take away the discomfort entirely, only help to lessen the symptoms of the acid reflux by reducing how much acid is in your stomach. Well, this is really significant issue therefore, I have decided to visit the norfolkhomelearning.com website to get help in an essay that I am willing to write about this topic so that it could help future moms to know much about this issue.
