How to Write a Knockout Essay

If writing is not your strong suit, even an assignment to write a three-page essay might have you breaking into a cold sweat. You can get help at https://courseworkwriting.help/ or spend time on your own. Follow these tips and write your way to a great essay.

    Understand the topic.
If you meet the length requirement but your essay does not fit what the professor assigned, this could spell doom for your grade. Scrutinize the essay rubric that your professor handed out along with the assignment, underlining key words and phrases. If your professor did not hand out a rubric, go over your class notes from when the essay was assigned, or ask another student in order to jog your memory. If all else fails, go ask the professor. Most professors would rather answer questions before the assignment is due than give a low grade to an otherwise decent essay that doesn't fit the prompt.

    Proofread.
After you've printed out your paper but before you hand it in, proofread it, preferably out loud to yourself. Spelling errors are easy to catch if you use Microsoft Word or any other word processing program with an automatic spell check, but these are the least of your problems. You also want to proofread for grammar, meaning and a logical flow of ideas. Students commonly substitute the correct word in a sentence with the wrong, correctly spelled word, such as "adulatory" for "adultery": "Othello was angry at Desdemona because she committed adulatory."
    Get help.
If your college or university has a writing center, where students can go to get help on their essays, you should take advantage of it. A friend who is willing to read your work can also be a valuable resource. If all else fails, you can always turn to the Web. There are sites with helpful lists of essay writing tips. These are certainly useful if you can afford them, but make sure that you aren't paying a service to actually write your essay for you. This leads into our final tip ...

    Always turn in original work.
The worst thing you can do for your grade, and for your academic career, is to plagiarize. Plagiarism is using words from another source that aren't your own, and failing to identify them as being from that source. For a plagiarism checklist, so that you don't accidentally make this mistake, turn to tutorial from Indiana State University.
