Lazy eye treatment

Hello all,
Hope doing well.

My son, 6 yrs old has been diagnosed with lazy eye/amblyopia.
Doctor advised the conventional patching of strong eye.
Want to know if anyone has any experience on this ??
Looking for some advices on alternate treatments like vision therapy alongside.
