improve your child's concentration and memory

I have an 8 year old son in standard 3.

Inculcate reading one chapter 4 times as if he is reading a story book. Then we discuss and write the points he has learnt, any points missed then we just add on it. After 2 sessions of this, he started answering and writing the answers to the textual chapter by himself, without even asking me if he can answer the questions.

While our discussion, I questioned him with all the w questions and h question and NOT the why.

I feel the why questions can be rerouted by how or what. For example:

Why is drinking tap water bad for us?
    Instead ask:
How can drinking tap water be harmful to us?

Framing your questions is vital to remember important facts.

Hi, every parent wishes that his or her child has a good memory so that he can do well in his studies and examinations and therefore they keep try different ways to boost their child’s memory and try to improve it. The brain is responsible for memorizing the things and the information is stored by creating neural pathways. When the information is needed to be remembered it needs to follow the same pathway back to the information. Memory needs to be practiced more and more just like some exercise to get better results. Telling your child to recall what he has memorized can help him develop a better memory.

You can call memory as the mental capacity to retain and revive events, facts and other information which is memorized by the brain. There various types as well under the memory namely called as short-term memory, active working memory and long term memory. In short term the ability to remember things is for a few seconds, in the active working memory the ability of the brain to store and process the information is for a few minutes and lastly in long term memory the ability to remember things for a quite long time.

As rightly said above everybody has different memories. When the children are asked to copy words from the blackboard in their books, they need to first memorize the spelling of the word remember it and then write it down instead of looking up again for the spelling and later on they can recall those words and also use them during a spelling test. It is seen that some children have a good short term memory and can remember things easily, while there are some children who have a good long term memory and might remember things taught long ago easily.

There are several memory tools by the help of which you can improve your child’s memory. The use of acronyms, an abbreviation for set of words. Help them learn names or words or a group of places by making their acronyms. They can arrange those acronyms the way they want and it might me easier for them to remember the names easily. When child have to write question and answers they find it difficult to memorize the whole thing is this case a keyword in the answer can be made into acronyms and the child can recall the answer easily.

Children also find it interesting and useful when they are taught answers in an easy and convenient way. Children easily learn with songs and poems, there are some children who find it difficult to remember answers and memorize it. When children are taught answers as songs and poems in certain tunes, children find it very entertaining and fun way to learn answers this way. This is a very quick and creative way of learning answers or any other thing which needs to be memorized. This way numbers can also be memorized and numbers can easily be remembered by anyone. The numbers can be remembered in chunks.

Hi, there are some children who have a photographic memory and do not find it difficult to memorize and remember things. There are some children who understand the concepts so well that they do not need to memorize things but can recall things with their understanding. It is important that the child remembers the important bits which are required to be memorized and not every single thing. The other way you can help your child improve memory is by using the acrostics. You can take the first letter of each word in the list which needs to be remembered.
