How much calcium is needed by a pregnant woman? Is it necessary to take calcium supplements during pregnancy? What problems are caused if adequate amount of calcium is not consumed during pregnancy?

When a women is pregnant it is very important to maintain proper health and nutrition which makes sure that the baby is healthy and fit. It is important that all the vitamins and minerals go into the body of the mother for a proper growth and development of the baby. Calcium is one of the most integral part of nutrient which should be incorporated by the mother during the pregnancy.

Calcium plays a vital role in the development of bones, teeth, nerves and muscles of the baby. When sufficient amount of calcium is received by the body of the mother, it functions the nervous system, circulatory system and muscular system of the baby properly.

Hello, there are studies which say that calcium helps in the regulation of the muscles, mostly contraction and relaxation. Calcium also helps in improving the regulation of heart. The nervous system message transmission, enzyme function and synaptic process also is linked to calcium.

Hi all, it is very important to take the right amount of calcium required by the body. Your doctor will recommend you to take 1000 milligram of calcium daily, pre and post pregnancy. All the expecting mothers should continue taking calcium even during their breastfeeding period.
