Shakarkandi Fruit Chaat
Ingredients
Shakarkandi (sweet potato)
Black pepper (kalimirchi) powder
Amchur (dry mango powder)
Rock rock (sendha namak)
Lemon juice
Optional items:
Pomegranate (Anaar)
Apples
Cherries
Sev
Dey roasted peanuts
Khajur chutney
Green chutney
Red chilli powder
Chaat masala
Sev
Corriander leaves for garnishing
Method
Boil or steam the sweet potatoes. Peel them and dice into cubes. Add all the masalas and lemon juice and mix well. Your basic sweet potato chaat, especially while fasting during Navratri, is ready.
Now the chaat can be made really interesting by adding fruits and the chutneys. Depending on availability of ingredients, you can add as many as you have. Khajur chutney and green chutney and sev are a great binder to make it like a bhel. You can add as many fruits as you have. I have added apples and cherries.
