RAGI:- If you want to give plain ragi i wuld suggest you go in for organic ragi available at Namdhari Fresh. i have been using it since the last 6 months and never had any issues. Also please remember u donot have to give ragi flour its completely different from the ragi malt we give to babies.
Dry fruits:- as gauri has rightly said, almond does not contipate on the contrary it helps curing constipation. Many other dry fruits do constipate and the stage 2 ragi (which u must be getting from the chemist shop at Dr rao' s clinic) is full of every dry fruit pulses and what not. i gave it twice to my son and he had an episode of loose motions. You can try it might be it clicks for you.
Water intake:- better be sure on this front. you have to give adequate water, if you are not giving the same it could be a major cause of constipation.
Isabgol:- donot give such laxatives. Instead give fibre rich food.
Apple:- Apple juice acts as a laxative whereas apple pulp is helpful in curing loose motions.
ragi:- as far as i know if made properly, ragi is gud for constipation.
banana:-Bananas are of great value both in constipation and diarrhea as they normalize colon functions in the large intestine to absorb large amounts of water for proper bowel moments. Their usefulness in constipation is due to their richness in pectin, which is water-absorbent and this gives them a bulk producing ability. They also possess the ability to change the bacteria in the intestines from the harmful type of bacilli to the beneficial bacilli.
putting pressure on his tummy might help when you have put in a suppository. i hope you are giving your son the potty daily at a fixed time. It can be helpful.

i also gave bonnisan(himalaya) to my son although dr rao or any other doctor would never agree to giving gripe water to babies. But it worked for me. (my son had gas trouble also).

best of luck

We read differing opinions abt Apple, Banana & ragi (nachni) in relation to constipation. Since your child is severly constipated better to avoid all 3 for sometime

Give her plenty of warm water, pappaya & palak. U can add water to this too.
It' s good that u r adding palak to her kichdi, but u may be adding one or 2 leaves only. try giving her palak soup.
Boil Palak and some other veg. I add a lil onion, potato, carrot & tomato. (My daughter is almost 15 months now, choose the other veg according to your kids age) Blend these into a thick puree. Boil the puree again with water to get the desired consistency, add salt.

Experiment a little with the ceral u r giving her too. In my daughters case wheat didnt suit her at all. I gave her only rice for some time till her stools were normal. then reintroduced wheat & nachni, but always made sure to give her palak, pappaya or banana with this. Actually banana worked wonders for her (the small yellow variety) But it dosent suit everybody I guess..
I know how terrible it is when your child is consipated and dosent go for several days... hope your kid is ok soon... good luck

same problme with me...no time ...i always used ready made nachini pwder its quite safe...check out expiry date...this i learnt from many maharashtrians frirends ..many of them use that ....u get 2 types one with sugar n one without sugar ...with sugar has cardamom flavour...whchi i never used coz my daughter is not fond of sweet things...i gv her plain without sugar one...
no...badam dooesnt cause constipatio or loose motion...infact it is the safest dry fruit for babies...other dry fruits r heavy too..that can affect apetite too...but with almonds its not like that ...
my mil ddnt let me start with almonds..or any other solids b4 6 montsh ...but my mother' s side we start giving babies almonds in the form of ghuti...from the time we come home from hospital...which personally too i wont advise to start so soon...
but almonds are safe..1/4th tsp quantitiy wont harm ...
