Hi Aisha & others from USA,

Also any preference for indian or non-indian drs?

Thank you Hello & Aisha for your replies. I am doing very fine. My family physician has suggested some mid-wife and also ob/gyn - i need to evaluate and decide by monday when i have my next appt.

My dr also explained the same thing - the team of mid-wife also have a visiting Ob/gyn in their team. Frankly, although this is my first pregnancy, some years ago i had visited a indian gyn and i felt that she did not treat me well. I mean - she did not explain anything much to me and spoke little bad abt Indian environment. So i am a bit skeptical.

Certainly, need not be that all Drs are the same way. IN the list of Drs that my FP has suggested she gave the option of Individual Dr or a Group of Drs. Also there is 1 Indian in the group. So u suggest that i can just go and check out that Dr first before i really decide on her?

Thanks for taking time to reply to my queries.

Radhika

Hi

My practice has a midwife and an OB. I love my midwife and dont like my OB much.I find midwives to be calm and understanding and compassionate ,but OB' s being medicos talk only medical stuff that you can barely follow. My Ob too is an Indian ,but my freinds had babies from non Indians as well and they found no difference .Do your research thoroughly before you decide and dont feel compelled to stick to your doc/midwife if you are not comfortable with them. You can change your doc anytime.HTH

Hello Radhika,

Congratulations!
How are you doing?

Regarding your question about mid-wife or ob/gyn. Sorry, I can' t say anything about mid-wife since I had a regular ob/gyn.

My dr. was an Indian lady (I still see her) and I must say I felt a bit more comfortable knowing that she is from the same place and knows Indian lifestyle.

Take a well balanced diet w/plenty of water.

Have a safe & happy pregnancy!
Aisha
