Due Date Club October 2006:Query on Premature delivery

Hi All,

How are you all doing? I am doing good. Now that I have started my 8th month, I am being advised to take care as the chances of premature delivery is high.

I want to know what causes premature delivery? Is there anything from our side we can do to avoid this? And in general how comman is premature delivery?
And can anyone predict the delivery date? Specially for first timers???

Waiting for your replies....
Love
Anjali

hi anjali,
as far as i know, once you have started your 37th week delivery is not considered premature because at that stage your baby is full term.

Usually a full term pregnancy is considered at 40 weeks but for first time mothers its usually around week 37 or so. Dont worry too much about what people around you say, just eat healthy and take plenty of rest.

Anjali,

I am from the Sept board. If you don't mind, can you share why it is considered that you are at a risk for preterm?

Thanks, TA

Hi TA,

Medically there is no problem with me, nor did my doc say anything about the premature deliver.

Its only the elders in the house, like mil, grandmom's, aunts who keep advising me to be carefull. They keep saying that in many cases the first timers have a premature delivery.

So i was worried and wanted to know is there any specifc reason for it...

Thats all :-)
