Due Date Club October 2006:Please Help!

Name: Chetana Dear all,
I am 26 weeks pregnant. Since the last 3 days, I was having this pain in my pelvic region. Also, My tummy was getting tightened.
I went in for a check-up today, and the doc told me that these were contractions.
She has prescribed Tidilan 3 times a day.
I was under the impression that contractions come andgo. But what I felt (tightening of tummy) lasted 4-5 hours. I also feel the baby to be lower than usual. I do not have any abnormal discharge as well.
Has anyone undergone the same problem?
I am very scared and nervous. Please advise.

Hey chetna,

The pain in the pelvic region is normal..i too have it and m running my 28th week..My tummy too gets tightened at times and have slight stomach pain also..i guess everyone expereince is differnt. so relax ..m also sailing with you :) with same pains..i guess if doc said eveything is fine that it should be.. take care..

if you did not say it lasted for 4-5 hours I would have said normal and you faced Braxton hicks contraction. But your case seemed more than BHC. didilan is good choice for you. May be in next visit your Dr. will ask on your experience with contraction since you started medication, if you felt them then s/he might do an internal checkup to know the cervix status.

All in all you will be fine with this treatment, which seems done on time.

Dear Nidhi and Archie

Thanks a lot for your kind words. Just wanted to share the recent developments with you. My doctor told me that i m having Braxton Hicks contractions. Tidilan is working fine for me. Atleast the contractions have stopped. I also got my GD test done...its absolutely normal. I got to know one thing from doctor, that in case you have a Vaginal infection...that too can trigger off contractions. ALso got a Ultra sound done...the baby is doing fine and the good news is that my low lying placenta has moved a bit up. ITs 3 cms away fm the OS now. I am so releived now.

You gals take care and lots of luv to ur babies.

thanks for replying back. My doctor did an internal also and she said that everything looked fine there.

Tomorrow i wuld go in for some more tests. I hope everything goes well. I'm kind of scared.
