How you doing? I am fine and wish the same for all moms to be….i have been doing a bit of a research on jaundice at birth and also most docs warn u saying it is normal, all kids have etc.etc. But I was wondering is there anything we can do while we carrying, like for instance with our diet or other daily routine which could reduce the risk of baby(s) having jaundice at birth?
The reason am concerned is, I have seen instances when the child has had jaundice and has life time complications because of the Jaundice.

Almost 85% babies are born with elevated billirubin levels, some are obviously high to see it in baby and are prescribed phototherapy for 2-4 days depending on extent. While some babies don't have significantly high levels and get over without even any treatments.
This can be more of concern for a mother who carried pregnancy without knowing that she was a GD patient. This will raise a few concerns, elevated billirubin levels, over size baby -most of excess weight will be lost in first week from birth. Unless some rash is combined with high bilirubin levels I would not suspect long term troubles to baby. That probably is one in 1 million sort of case, I am sure Shraddha the case you may be referring is rare and did not only have jaundice but something else like alloimmunization leadign to anemia in baby that may have been undeteced during and after pregnancy and could sometime lead to long term troubles.

newborn jaundice is controlled while youa re in hospital and by far no obvious complications are expected in long run.
