Hey Archie,

How are you, I am second time mom and was a very active member at this site when I was pregnant with my first baby. THis time I am due in March end and right now I am 28 weeks 6 days pregnannt

Doctor has diagnosed me with polyhydraminous but it is very mild, they couldnt find any thing through ultrasound, as per them everything looks ok. my GD test came -Ve.

I was wondering do you have any idea how rare or common is this condition and what are the outcomes generally. the ultrasound doctor said that it does happen that most of the time this condition is just like that and in the end everything is fine. I am not worried but sometimes I get really scared.
he also said that I am prone to preterm labor, and would like to remind you i have a mild bump in my uterus,so you can say i have bi-cornuate uterus also.

I am thinking to write to you since last 6 weeks, but then didnt write but today I am feeling very anxious so decided to write here. I dont know what should I do.

Please let me know what you think, and what else I can ask from doctor.

and Yes day before yesterday, I got the contractions, actually i was having backache since last two days and so doctor decided to check me, they did stress test which was going fine untill they checked my cervix and it started the contractions every 3minutes apart, then they gave me medicine to stop it and touch wood till now I am doing okay. but now I am really scared.

Thanks in advance and will be waiting for your answer
Thanks

your AFI is normal but on higher side, not at all polyhydramnios.
your sugar might explain reason for higher side AFI.
I hope you clear 3hr test.

Vsoni,
Congratulations on second pregnancy!
To be honest without knowing exact AFI value I am not in position to weight risk of preterm labor.
Also I want you to confirm from your OB if you have a bicornuate uterus indeed. Having bump in the uterus does not mean it's a bicornuate case. Also being second time around you should be knowing that if your first baby was full term or not and if you have such uterus, which I think your Dr. would have brought to attention.

if you could tell me clearly about uterus type, after confirming with your OB and that your AFI value then I can be in position to comment better.

today, if I am to comment then its this the good news is you have completed almost 29 weeks and have been on medication to stop contractions. This is likely to let you go through few more weeks if your uterus is bicornuate and that AFI is really high. If uterus is normal and AFI is in control then this medication will help you complete term to your satisfaction!

I will wait to hear your inputs on AFI and type of uterus so that be they come to me in two posts when available.

Archie

Vsoni,
you can find ways to reduce carb intake and ofcourse fresh fruits over juices is great idea.

your low HB and glucose readins in part explain polyhydramnios but if you can make carb limits then all will set right.

I am not worried for preterm risk today given you have postdate baby.

Subject:  Sugar test

Hey Archie,

I have ultrasound tomorrow, I can ask them to let me know how much is AFI.

And yes my sugar test came +ve this time, but since last month I was eating fruit cereal bars can it be because of this, because when i had the sugar test around 22 weeks it was 96 points and this time 28 weeks it came for 143 points.

My Hb count is also going low, i am on iron tablets since 22 weeks it was 11 and now this time it is 9.7.

my questions is can i eat oranges in stead of orange juice, because i want to decrease sugar intake, i was also drinking orange juice every day because doctor told me to take iron tablet with sugar.

Now regarding bi-cornuate uterus, last time i delivered after 40 weeks and 2 days so doctors said that they are not worried for bi-cornuate uterus, and when they did the ultrasound first time they said it is just a slight bump it is not fully partitioned.

Let me know what can I ask further from my doctors.

Thank you very much archie

Thanks
Neetu
