Hi everybody

Hope all of you are doing good.I had my 28th week appointment today and baby is fine.I measure 28 as well.I had my 1hr GST today and hope I dont flunk.Need some inputs from you all...

My doc was a bit concerned about my weight gain.This month Ive yet again gained 6 pounds.I just dont know where I pack pounds from.I have a bowl of cereal and orange for bfast.Lunch is south Indian with rice and vegetables.Dinner is mostly roti with beans or whole wheat pasta.I drink 2 glasses of milk and eat out maybe once a week.But Ive completely stopped sweets,chips and ice cream.
Doc wants me to cut rice,pasta and roti.What am I left with to eat?Im a veggie and dont know what choices I have.She wants me to include atleast 2 proteins with every meal.I eat protein bar as a snack between my lunch and dinner.What other veggies sources I have apart from beans and pulses and how do I include them in all my meals?
Any input is much appreciated.

Second time moms -Nila and DP

Need your help on this one.Doc again asked if I have found a ped for the baby.I have a hospital right opposite my apartment where a bunch of peds practice.Im planning to pick one from those coz I dont want to travel too long.Do you its too late now to look for one.And what possible qs should I be asking the ped before deciding?

And finally,doc asked me about what birth control I want to use after the baby.I dont want use the pills or the patch(jut dont feel like using anything hormonal)I was on pill for only 8 months and I totally hated it.What about IUD?I did a research on Mirena but I was quite alarmed to read some facts like you totally stop getting periods after some time.If you dont mind,what did you all opt for? And other first time moms like me,what are you all planning to do?

I wasnt at all prepared for all these and I was thrown back when my OB asked me all these.Im really confused.Please help.

meet the doc in person.. chk their wrkin hrs.. thats more imp. chk if they work on weekends, if not, who covers for them.. it wd be good if ur friends recom someone..

i dont take pills. and every other birth control i came across creates some form of side effect..
y dont u stick to condoms?

hey.. i hv gained 13 pounds so far.. may be if i tell u my schedule, it will help/
i hv eggs for breakfast (only whites) since u r a veg, try oatmeal or cereals
i hv a bowl of fruits at 10-11am thats 3/4 oranges or 2 apples or 2-3 banannas or 1/2 canteloupe/watermelon etc
around 1 i hv a cup of rice (thats half of what u normally eat) and 2cups of veggies. nothing fried. try boiling cauliflower in water with salt/boil carrots,beans,peas etc, garnish with pepper/salt, or if u r eating traditional veggies, try steaming/boiling anfd then frying.. have rice with dal
around 4/5 have sprouts-channa, green gram or anthing that strikes ur fancy.
have 2-3 rotis with 2-3 servings of veg for dinner and bef sleeping have milk so that u dont wake up at nite..

whenever u r hungry, much on fruits, youghurt (sprinkle chat masala & salt) or have milk (if u dont like the smell of milk, add saffron/ turmeric&pepper or complan etc
and drink 3 liters of water. buy one or one and half liter bottles. if u dont wanna spend on water, then fill them up every morn and make sure u finish them by nite.

this works for me as i m have 4-5 serving of fruits and veg, 3 glasses of milk, grains, etc everyday.

and indulge urself.. wake up in the nite? have a cp of icecream or spice up ur evening sprouts with onion, tomatoes, coriander, red chilli power and chat masala. and go out once a week and have somthing nice or ask ur friend to make smothin nice for u. eat less of this..
rem to eat every 2 hrs, eat small portions..
i m carring a little high, so rite after i eat, when the baby kicks (rite below my chest!) i burp like hell or i feel like all the foods gonna come out.. so i eat less..

good luck hon.. dont worry, u ll find smthin that works for u.

That was so helpful.Over the weekend I came with a diet plan that was almost on the same lines that you have mentioned.

Hi,

How are you doing? Good to know that you are able to do some light work. Do you still get those contractions? I just hope and pray that you dont!

About your weight gain, I personally dont think you should worry if you havent gained more than a total of 20 lbs till now. Maybe you gained little more this month (ideal being 4 pounds/month) ....how about last month? And also if you read the weekly development of the baby, this is the period where the baby gets a lot of weight.

I would also like to know from the second timers about IUD and its effects. It would great to get inputs from experienced people before making a decision.

I dont know how much Ive gained till now.The doc doesnt tell me.In my last appointment I had gained 6 pounds and with the prev one it was again 6 pounds.Thats what is getting me concnerned.With restricted excercise ,I cant afford to gain that much.I dont get contractions now.Thank God for that.How are you ,btw?

personally i am against any IUD, pill etc. we just were on natural methods and condoms. it worked fine for us and we were able to maintain almost 4 yrs gap between my first and second. also in the initial months with new born we did not hv time to think of sex. so personally i feel condom is enough and harmless. this is just my suggestion.

u still hv time to find a ped. dont worry.

Better to use prenatal-post natal tablets... as well B complex for 6 months to 1 year... use a cloth tie up around belt area..eat properly...take rest...that' s all you can do...

did you take any Epidural during delivery? some people exp b' z of that...if so see the Chiropractor..

Priya is he getting burp? Some times it will take 10-15 mts to get burp...if they don' t get burp they will vomit...if you over feed then also they will vomit...

other questions is vomiting or spitting? lots of diff bet them..

next thing... if he don' t get burp put him on his tummy for 1 mt... he will get burp immediately... but never leave him o... - Raja [View Message]

oh...i had the same problem...u' ll be alright jst avoid food whch cause constipation. apply sucral ano tube before and after motion and eat lot of papayya. add kali mirch to ur food instead of red chillies.and atlst 15 min walk daily.
