Hi everybody,

Today I had my 38th week appt. My doc said I am still in the same state(3cms dilated n cervix still thick) and everything looks good with the baby and anytime my baby can come out once I get some labor signs. She gave me an option: If I want her to delivery my baby on her on call days i.e. 6th, 7th in the hospital I can do so by getting pre-planned inducing. If I want to wait for any labor signs whoever doctor is in her group on call that day/night will handle the delivery. She said she is giving me a option to think of.

I am in dilemma now, I too feel baby can come out anytime now. I am resting at home with least activity scared of my speed of dialtion. I hv been having mild contractions on and off for weeks now. Also I am scared how I will handle going away from my daughter if I hv to rush to hospital in the evening/night. She is very attached to me n wouldn' t stay without me in the nights. Only my mom is here still she is getting used to her(as she is going to preschool most of the daytime). My hospital is 50 minutes drive from home and my husband travels 1 hr to work. What if I get pains when he is at work? First time itself I had a very short labor I went from 4 to 10 cms in 2 hrs. This time I am already 3 cms dilated, so doc said if I get pains I shd go straight to the hospital since it will be still faster than first time. Thinking of all these I want to pick a day and go about it since it will be lot easier to manage. But I want to wait for the actual day my baby decides to come out. What do you all think I shd do? I am so confused. Doc says baby is full term and it is perfectly fine for the baby to come out. My doc will be on call on 13th again, but I think my baby won' t wait until then... My neighbor friend who goes to the same doctor did what the doc suggested(getting induced) as per plan last year and had a normal delivery. My mom started looking for auspicious day etc... once it is left to humans we all will do that. I just don' t like this idea. My husband says lets give it a day or 2 it will happen by then naturally. He is fine with whatever I decide. Pls. give me ur opinions.

Hope my baby decides something before we hv to decide...

Now you are confused with this situation,dont give more stress to yourself.When ur pregnant u decide all by taking what doc says and leaving it to gods.So the ques is do u want ur regular doc or a person u dont know.Focus on you and the baby inside ur tummy.Your daughter will adjust to ur mom,give her a chance.Try to fix a date and go ahead...Waitin to hear the goodnews frm you.........

I know its very difficult to make decision like that especially second time. I am also worried about my son (how he will manage for at least 2days/nights without me) and got tempted to go for induction.
But baby' s growth is faster in our tummy than outside. So, give the baby enough time to grow.
At the same time, be prepared for anything. Have backup plan in case you do go into labor like having someone to drive you to hospital and pick up your daughter etc.

I am almost in the same boat as yours (EDD-14th) . Though under lot of tensions, i am trying to give my baby some more time. I may decide after my 39th week visit. I have been hearing from the doc that I may go into labour anytime from 36+ weeks , but nothing so far. Still 1cm dilated and very very soft cervix (60% effaced).

One advice I got from experienced people is not to wait till the pain reaches the your threshold to start to the hospital. When you know some pain has started, better pack and leave. Second time, your body is more tuned and the process may be fast.

Give some more time to your baby and let the baby decide when to arrive. Don' t worry ...you will get an extraordinary strength to bear with the situation. Also your baby is still under 6 lbs (if I am not mistaken), so he/she can wait for some more time.

If u start about worrying how you will manage things, it will always be difficult. Just leave the thing to your baby and relax, let he/she take the initiative. If u induce it now, u might feel bad that you didnt allow ur little one some more time inside you :) Leave it to the baby and relax.. When u get the pain, u will manage somehow.. and it is all a matter of few hours of struggle , but it is worth it, let ur young one get as mush time as possible in the safest place on earth.
