dear october 2006 expectants,
hearty congratulations!
This is going to be totally new experience for first timers and for subsequent pregnancy mothers it is a brand new experience once again.
I wish you all safe, and healthy pregnancy.

Just to sum in brief,
you will be offered blood work in each trimester.
Frist trimester blood work is huge and expected to understand immunocomplex, sexually transmitted diseases, blood function and of course the pregnancy hormones.

Some at the end of first trimeste or at the beginning of second trimester will be offered another test where they will get to understand more of genetic complexity of baby. Those who don't get to go through this test will be offered quad marker test in second trimester.

Second trimester is relatively painless and soothing one. YOu will also have major happening and experiences to observe in this trimester. In most baby will move first time in second trimester (anbywhere between week 14 to week 26). YOu will also get to see first better look at your baby in level-2 ultrasound or anamoly scan. For those who get positive AFP/quad test will be put on to test by amnioscentis to assure all is fine with baby.

In third trimester some physical discomforts are expected and you will be known for GD status, also at the end of pregnancy around week 34, you will be offered another blood work to assure blood factors and group B streptococcus test.

I hope you will all have great experience. Once again congratulations and will be happy to help clear doubts as and when are addressed.

Archie

Thanks for all the info plus the wishes. feels great! For me all the tests came normal apart from I tested positive for Polycistic Fibrosis, hypothyroidism and 3fibroids two measuring 3cm each, which doc said is a small size. Baby seems to be fine, I went today there was a gestational sac, yolk sac and heart beat of 160 bpm. I am 7 weeks and 3 days. I am being optimistic. Doc will check next week again b/c of very little bleeding and cramps. Thanks Archie!

thanks and congratz to all expecting moms-
