I am 14 wks preg now & a rare visitor here. I am experiencing a very strange kind of pain, its not exactly pain i cant express it.Whenever i take my food i experience a lot of heaviness just below my left breast towards the stomach (i think its on left side).It' s been since I was 8 wks preg.It' s very strange type if i bent a little while sitting to do some writing work i feel much of that pain & if i straighten up my back it gives some relief.It feels as if somebody is sucking from inside as if my baby is not in my uterus but much higher & keep sucking as i take in some food.Is anybody else is also experiencing this or anyove can suggest what is it & why it happens. It seems as is some heavy stone is being kept there for long.

Good to know that everything is fine with you and thanks a lot for letting us know abt Gyn' s opinion.

Apart from the regular checkups as Sweta said there 2 main test like the AFP and an U/S to determine any defects. So another 2 weeks or so you will be asked for AFP and then arnd 20 weeks for U/S.

MP, thanks for confirming with the gyn... and especially letting us know... :)

Also one more thing, earlier I had written that portion above my belly is proportionately big to area just below the belly, BUT ACTUALLY what I meant to say was that portion above my belly is big and equal to portion just below my belly.. :)

Tests: During the early stages of preg, mostly there are no test other than routine blood and urine test, and u/s whenever required...

During 16 weeks or so, you can go for AFP or triple test... this is also done by taking your blood sample... and in later weeks (20th) U/S again for detecting any kind of abnormality in the baby.. I think it is called anomaly scan.. plus my gyn has told me to do echo scan in 22 weeks for checking baby heart...

Tom.(3rd aug) I am undergoing a test called amniocentesis... but this test you dont have to worry cos this test is done only if you had problems with early preg or if you are above 35 yrs..

Last yr, last preg of mine, I had my miscarriage during first semister and later we found out that there was some problem with the foetus, so the miscarriage during Last preg.

so Now, for This Preg, for checking everything is normal with the baby, gyn has suggested amniocentesis for me..

Please Pray for me that everything goes fine with and after the procedure.. and reports are also normal.. which btw comes after 15 days... Therefore, I am also thinking of testing the same amniotic fluid which will be taken by amniocentesis with another method called FISH (Fluorescence in situ hybridization) cos its results comes in 3 days..
It is not extensive like amniocentesis report but in FISH.. main 3-4 cells are tested... At least I will not be in tension for 15 days waiting for amniocentesis results.. but cost factor also we will have to see. lets see.. just please pray for me.. Thanks... :)

Will post my update after few days as will have to take bed rest for 2-3 days after the procedure...My hubby was telling me to take rest for one week..

MP, congrats and welcome to the jan board! I' m 17 weeks completed and on to 18th week.

I do have the same feel going for abt 2 weeks or so. It' s exactly like sweta explained as \" I am also experiencing the same heaviness especially after having food but it is on the middle and right hand side... Like you said it is not exactly pain but strange kind of pain with lots of heaviness... Also like you said me too feel that baby is upwards as feel like someone is pushing from inside.. especially after having food.\"

And as you said MP, when I try to bend to eat or do some work, its difficult. I' ve been feeling like this and so my hubby asked to check with gyn. I thought as long as I don' t have any cramps or discharge or any severe discomfort it' s all fine(my thought)!

I' ve been feeling really strange and lil worried abt it as I didn' t experience it in the first pregnancy. But after reading your post seems like it' s normal. Anyway, I thought I would call the Gyn if in case it becomes more severe.

Please, keep updated.....so that we can share and see how we all are doing. I thought it was silly of me to think that the baby has moved upwards and trying to stop me from bending....but I see we all feel the same, huh! And also the pain in the middle and right side is kinda different too! let' s hope everything will be fine for all of us.

MP, please do get Gyn' s opinon if you have been having it for long time. I' m having this feel only abt 2 weeks, so it' s better get checked. Also each one of our pregnancy is different even though we feel the same kinda experience.

Congrats on your pregnancy and Welcome to the Board...

I am in my 17 weeks now.. I am also experiencing the same heaviness especially after having food but it is on the middle and right hand side... Like you said it is not exactly pain but strange kind of pain with lots of heaviness... Also like you said me too feel that baby is upwards as feel like someone is pushing from inside.. especially after having food.. Having such type of heaviness from many weeks now...

I just try and walk around a bit so that it subsides... Walk for say 5-10 mins after having food so that the heaviness lessens... it works for me..

I dont know why it happens or what it is but may be after having food our stomach gets full and we feel heaviness. just my guesswork... I have not asked this to my doc yet as I felt there is nothing to worry about... as heaviness is normal.. and also my area above the belly is proportionately big to area just below the belly.. sometimes I wonder where exactly is my baby...

If you feel that it is strange it better to ask your gyn during your next visit...
