Due Date Club November 2004:Sarah, Preeti, Neeti - On babysitters
2005-07-14
Name: ck

Hi Sarah, Preeti, Neeti,

Thanks for ur inputs on choosing babysitters. Those are really wonderful points I will keep in mind while looking. I gave a ad in Sulekha. Let me see.

More questions: Will the baby adjust with the sleeping and eating schedule in the babysitters home? Where will the baby sleep? Mine won't fall asleep by herself. Do they give bath to the baby? What all u need to give them while leaving the baby? I hope I can get someone who comes home(nanny). Do I hv to be like a employer to the nanny/BS or treat her like a family person? Which one will work fine?

Hope u guys don't mind answering,
Thanks,
CK

Hi CK,
What I posted was from a site...
Actually my experience will start from today as I will be going to University from today.(Thanx VA ur motivation helped me a lot!!)...
The lady whom I have hired is in her late fifties....almost everythg settled with her...I mean her children r married and all...she is the same one who was doing my and baby malish...so as long as bath is concerned..its fine...still I prefer to bath him myself..we enjoy..
Food she prefers to feed homemade food...so I dont mind...besides she does other household chores and makes chapatis...so its a big help...
I will be out of house for 3 hrs in morning and 3 hrs in eve...I have hired her for morning...in eve its papa's job..
Big bro is having summer vacations so he can be a great help....besides my baby sitter can serve him food..
Try to find a baby sitter who will come to ur house...but again its a risk...besides charges r high...I will be paying abt 100$ for just 3 hrs...
Yes we treat our maid like a family person...thats where trick is...once they get emotionally involved with our family...they wont do any harm...it does not take much time and effort...just keep the ego aside...atleast for the sake of baby..karna padta hai..
Keep valuables locked when u leave house with baby sitter...
I think our babies r small to join others at baby sitter's place...may be after their first Bday...
About liquid food....try to give her water...dont give up...gradually she will learn..juices r ok...but they cant replace water...
How is her nasal congestion.
Lots of love and hugs to shalika and all cuties,
Preeti

ck,
Since I have a babysitter coming home everyday, I cannot really answer most of your questions. I would never want the babysitter to give my daughter bath as I am afraid what if they do not do it the right way and water get into their ears, etc. My babysitter just feed my baby, play with her and put her to sleep. I am very friendly with the babysitter and talk to her as if I am talking to my girl friend.
